High-Flex PVC Tubing, cheap tygon alternative

http://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/108/html/0082.html

about half way down... High-Flex PVC Tubing

its about $1 per foot cheaper than what we can get tygon for.... would this stuff bend decent like the 3603 tygon?

I've found some at a local store.
It bends half-way between tygon and vinyl :p

DigitalChaos 06-07-2002 06:37 AM

hrmm... but does it stay open in that bend over time? or does it flatten out like my $.50 per foot vinyl?

and would the 3/8 id fit over 1/2 barbs?

I just got it... so i cannot say whats going on after months of abuse.
3/8" *nearly* fits over 1/2". I got thick wall so it wont stretch too easily. Dip it in hot water and it can fit.

id need to see some specs on McMasters hose. that tubing has a shore rating of 50, whereas tygon 3603 has a rating of 55 (so id assume the bend radius of McMasters high-flex PVC tubing to be as good or better than the 3603). that tubing also has a good temp range (max of 180+ F). it isnt clear; but it is cheaper. i dunno, grab some and try it out :p ive already got some 3603 comming to me from DDen......
