just wish I'd found out b-4 i wasted the money on it. :(

bigben2k 06-07-2002 03:48 PM

What happened?

admar2 06-07-2002 03:55 PM

it started making a horrible racket and failed after about 6 weeks...

bilge pumps aren't designed for continous operation.

bigben2k 06-07-2002 04:01 PM

Was it rated for continous operation?

bigben2k 06-07-2002 04:10 PM

No it wasn't. This is a "Rule" pump:
http://www.rule-industries.com/pumps.htm

designed to provide water pressure for faucets in RV campers, or boats.

Definitely not for continous duty...

crane 06-07-2002 04:21 PM

Damn, even when it worked it had to add alot of heat to your coolant.
That's definately a crappy pump setup from a outfit.

Brad 06-07-2002 04:41 PM

haha another person finding out first hand

admar2 06-07-2002 06:09 PM

yep, I found out the hard way, and I'm just passing along the info to help others avoid buying this piece of craptastic hardware.

pHaestus 06-07-2002 06:23 PM

Will it be hard to put a more suitable pump in as a replacement? Little Giant and Iwaki make some small submersibles that you can find from time to time on ebay...

Cyco-Dude 06-07-2002 07:09 PM

thats what id probably do. the res is nice, its just a crap pump. put something good in there and youll be all set :D

admar2 06-07-2002 07:24 PM

I'm thinking about trying to find a pump that will fit, but for the time being I picked up a 6x6x4 direct burial box from Home Depot along with a 350gph beckett pump and I've got that running for temporary. till I can decide exactly what i want to do.

WireX 06-07-2002 11:20 PM

man, I am so glad I got the 145 gph centrifugal (spelling, I know, GTA3 sucked my brains out) pump in mine.

admar2 06-09-2002 10:41 AM

I'm pretty happy with this ghetto home depot reservoir and pump right now...

I'm gonna look around, maybe build me a pimp clear reservoir or something...

in the meantime this works ALOT better than the OCH setup ever did, and its MUCHO quieter

Wayne Harrow 06-10-2002 12:05 PM

I wish i never brought one now. I cant say i want warned :(

ghogman 06-20-2002 10:24 AM

Ihave one too, wish I didnt, it is BUZZING bad now, not much time left on it. Is there a better pump that will fit in that res? I need saving without alot of work, man I just dont have the time to make an elaborate setup.

How is the Becket pump?

Sanjuro 06-20-2002 01:47 PM

I have a puny Becket pump (the smallest model, some 60GPH) got it cheap at Home Depot. Very quiet, puts out very little heat and has been runnning 6 month straight without a flaw (it runs dry sometimes too cause i'm too dumb to refill the coolant after cleanup) Definitely a economic choice

it may not be an expensive eheim or anything, but it is WAY quieter than that POS bilge pump every was...

I'm getting better cooling using the beckett pump too...

sad to see you get ripped off in such fashion...

I love my Beckit, I'm using the 210GPH model, and it has no problem with taking care of 4 CPU's and a chipset, all at once....

dang, that res setup looks kinda like mine!!! except with brass outlets instead of those monsters ya are using!! best thing about this beckett is that i could get it locally, same day my POS bilge pump died..

ghogman 06-20-2002 11:30 PM

I think I am going to take my POS CPUFX bilge pump out and use it as my res and add a eheim to my case. I cant even get them to reply to any emails on the issue. They are hiding from the pissed custmers.
If you look on OCH web page, you cant even find them for sale any more, onlyteh little mag drive pump. Sigh.....

ghogman 06-20-2002 11:34 PM

Of these 2 pumps which is best. I like that the 158 GPH has 1/2 inch fittings on both in and out, but I like that the other pump is 317 GPH, what do the gurus think?
