Laptop HD Problem

My sister has an internet order laptop (Netlux: P3 1Ghz, DVD, 20GB HD, etc) and she had it for almost a year now. But lately, she encountered some major problems with it. I'm not sure what it is, exactly, but she tells me and I hear it when she brings the laptop home from College and i hear this really disturbing "clicking" noise like something is unable to do complete its rotation/revolution or someting is unable to process information. I was thinking that iw as the HD, but how could that be so if the laptop loads fine in WINXP and operates smoothly until an hour or so? Secondly, could it be a fan problem? she needs desperate help and I need to relay some troubleshoot solution to her so she can get her laptop back working. SHe has a term paper to write, and the laptop isn't helping because when it makes the noises it stalls. =/ help ASAP

P|S: will formatting help?

If you're looking to watercool your laptop, or put neon lights over it, you've come to the right place!

As for the HD, given that the laptop is only 1 year old, you should be able to simply call support for it, as it is still under warranty.

Hmmm I seem to remember having the same problem with my original desktop computer several years ago.

CAUSE: Bad HDD; heads would slam against the outer casing :D

SOLUTION: Replace HDD IMMEDIATELY and backup all data before you can't get to it anymore.

Mine started having that problem only 3 months after we got it and would only happen once in a while. But it progressively got worse unit 9 months latter is was happening all the time. Fortunately the drive was still under warranty.

Replace that sucker ASAP!!!! Buy a new HDD if necessary but dont let it keep "pinging" away; it will fail eventually.
