Peltier stacking in action!
Peltier stacking have always been denounced by people as not workable, but here's a real life example of pelt stacking. And as if that wasn't enough, he's running chilled water as well!
http://www.cisnet.or.jp/home/masamoto/sub04.htm http://www.cisnet.or.jp/home/masamoto/sub05.htm Detailed diagrams of how it was implemented as well. This Japanese guy is amazing. Here are some of his other works. http://homepage2.nifty.com/masamoto/ http://www.cisnet.or.jp/home/masamoto/ http://www.ne.jp/asahi/simanto/oc/UltraVapo_unit.htm Top-notch implementations! |
now if i could only read japanese

I like the cooling block, with the holes drilled right through the length, but it's hard to do.
The problem with stacking pelts is that there is energy dissipated by the first pelt, beyond what is used for transfering the heat. The second pelt also adds its own heat, which together makes it very difficult to cool. It's not impossible to do, it's just not efficient. You could stack ten pelts if you really, really wanted to, but what's the point? |
The point is not being efficient. Yes stacking pelts adds up their heat resistances. And so what, if you've got a good watercooling loop behind with a big arse rad, you can take the heat. Works pretty well.
Running em in parallel is good if you've got the room... ie running more than 2 in parallel is not an option with tiny processors. |
True, but the power requirement.... I mean, powering one Pelt is expensive enough.
That aside, I suppose that if you have a good water cooling rig, you might be able to reach some pretty interesting temperatures. But still, i think that the cost of it would justify getting the freon compressor. |
Ahhh but when you're a crazy modder you never get enough !
LN2 baby :D |
but when you're crazy, you're alone in LA-LA land!:D
|
Ak. I supposed all crazy ppl ended up on this forum.
And it seems Japan (and NZ) are world champions in crazy (and extreme) OC / modding... |
I have to move there!!!:D
|
That's just sick!
|
Yeah, but he is already using phase changed cooled liquid. The stacked pelts is on top of that. Somewhere along the Japanese words I saw -60C.
|
To me, that is such a waste of money....
|
To me, that is called "boredom" :D
|
Its always easy to pass comments like that, but even if you have the cash, can you design and build something like that from scratch?
|
If I wanted to....had the money, resources, and desire.
|
Yes i can. :) I do not have the cash though...
not to take nothing away from that guy, truly a genious. Awesome work. I can however get from one TEC on a similar CPU this.... http://3rotor.dns2go.com/images/misc...cnshot_sml.jpg done with a PII 333 at 500Mhz a very very long time ago. hmm I am impressed, He is up to now the only one I have seen that uses selica gel to compliment his condensation prevention... nice one.... |
Rotor, the question was directed at more normal people :p
Well if Rotor is impressed, what more to say? ;) |
hehehe :) normal people you say...... on this BB.....
