How to melt a maze3 in one easy step

this is what happens when you forget to turn off your pelt...

and no it's not mine:eek:

Brad 06-15-2002 05:09 AM

how did I guess it would be from the [h]?

Are there some bitter feelings going on here? I have posted a LOT more on the [H], but I actually like this forum more, except the fact that it takes a little longer to get a response here. As a matter of fact, I just changed my "Home" page from the [H] to here. Need more members.....;)

As long as they're quality members :D

Of course, I'm not to high quality, so what am I still doing here?

Meltdowns like that are not really all that uncommon with peltiers. I wouldn't run one personally until I had verified that the system's wiring didn't allow situations like: pelt running with no pump, pelt running without computer, computer running without pelt. Just seems common sense to me.

Refrigeration (phase change) tech is far more robust and established, and cheaper to run. Pelts are simpler to add though.

Well all I have to say is what took you all so long and welcome. Yea, I still hang out at the [h] sometimes but I can't even pm anymore. That place is so broke all the time and there are to many people that can't seem to figure out how search works before they go posting.

but this is what makes up 98% of the [H] content. We actually have more usefull content here.

i made a post about a new cooling plate design here and on [H]. one person on [H] commented. The thread on here has almost 40 posts.

it seems like if it isnt a post they see every day.. then they just dont know what to do (like sheep).

this all applies for the overclocking and cooling section... not sure about the others though

there is negative feelings due to the actions of steve, when he banned about 20 of us in one day, for being incredibly biased towards cpufx/och. they have done various other things, but that was the defining instant. basically now we all hate [h]

Do you (or anyone else) know of a way to make sure the PC isn't running without the water flowing? ie: pump dies and pc turns off. I tried looking at my Abit KR7A (not 133 or raid) BIOS and couldn't find a temp shut-off feature. BTW, i'm just talking about normal inline watercooling, not TEC/Pelts. So far, the only thing i can think of is to use MBM shut-off, but i'm scared that if i come home with a smoking pc to find out that my pc got a BSOD; being reason MBM didn't turn the pc off.

One thing that I've looked at (but havn't implemented so far) is implanting a (normally closed, 50-60 degree(c)) thermal switch into the water block, wire the green psu wire through it (green wire when grounded turns on psu), if the pump fails the water block heats up, hits the switch trigger temp, switch goes open, psu turns off.

:D

In terms of Kyle's mom (southpark)

WHAT WHAT WHHAATTT!!! hehe. i'll need some pics on how to get that kind of setup working.

I've attached a pic of a typical thermal switch, you'll have to find out where to buy them locally since I have NFI:shrug:

Securley attach the little critter to the water block(or heatsink) AS epoxy would do, get a couple of spade crimp terminals (or use solder), cut the green psu wire, and attach it to either side of the switch, don't forget to test it to make sure it actually works;)

Yeah, that's pretty crappy. And the downtime and ASCII stuff is pretty annoying. I don't understand why people don't take an approach similar to the ideal of Open Source. Basically, isn't the point of the Internet to share information? And if someone on one forum has a problem with a company/website/manufacturer they should be able to voice it. I guess it still comes down to politics. I hate that.

Brad 06-18-2002 01:33 AM

it is money. simple as that.

Did you hear about the PetsWarehouse(tm) Lawsuit. that's just wrong

Brad 06-18-2002 02:00 AM

hehe, I can see that happening very soon with a big hardware site.

|PuNiSh3R| 06-18-2002 09:29 AM

F*ck [H].

Phaeltus is right... peltiers take a ton of energy.. phase change is much better.. but it takes quite some time to set it up and can cost more in the beginning.. but you will save a ton in electricity.

My frige didn't work.. so I had to strip it all down.. it's really hard work.. but it will have a pay off that I am willing to work hard for.

EDIT:

That's also another reason why I wouldn't buy a crappy maze3 .. or any waterblock that has a clear top for that matter...

To many temp changes that cause little changes in the copper.. to easy to get a leak.. plus I do extreme cooling.. it wouldn't work for me.. and I wouldn't trust it further then I could throw my 50lb computer.
