Max Video OC???

OK....I admit....I'm being lazy. I just bought a GF3 Ti200 (64MB), and I've heard really great things about the overclocking abilities of this card. So I went in big steps with NVMax. Stock is 175/400. Managed to get it up to 266/500 right off the bat. It boots, but then it won't run 3DMark. So it's obviously not stable there. I just thought that I would try to save myself the trouble of going 1MHz at a time and thought that I would ask here. What's the max OC that I can expect with this card??? Would it be more stable with higher memory and less core? What's about the max that I should expect, and obviously I'll be using that as a starting point for my own testing. Any input would be great!

There is no way to tell.

You'll have to try it, but you're half way there, since you have an unstable configuration. Just drop it from there until it's stable, and you'll be set.

I know that every card is different, and all that, but I was crious what people were getting to to kind of give me a range to start with.

I'm not sure either, but dude you should have gone with the gf4 ti4200, really fast, really oc'able and not too expensive. I'm very pleased with it's performance.

I actually had the intention of getting that card when I went to Computer Depot. But they were out. So I got this one for about half the price (paid $120). And I still get almost 8000 on 3DMark, around 65fps on UT, and over 200fps on both q3 demos. So, coming from a Gf2MX400, I am VERY happy with this card as is.

I'm just a tweaker at heart and I need to push its limits....

;)

[edit]I just realized you said the 4200 instead of the 4400 I read it as. I haven't heard very good things about the 4200, and I couldn't see dropping an extra $100 for the 4600. I had meant to get the 128MB Ti200, but they didn't have that either.[/edit]

no games out there are really going to take advantage of another 64mb of ram. 64mb or 128mb ehh.. same difference with most games.

However! -- the big difference between the GeForce3's and the GF4's is that the new cards use tiny BGA ram.

smaller -> cooler -> faster

right, right. I'm planing to W/C the card. But haven't decided on a block or rig configuration yet. I figured I would go this route for now, and see what the next generation GF's look like (GF4Ultra or GF5), or maybe the Parehlia(SP?), then drop the cash.

yea it sucks.. bottom line is soon as you buy one thing, its outdated.

probably will be a GF4 Ultra.. then maybe 2003'ish a GF5 --- i think they'll milk the GF4 for quite awhile

i bet you'll see 1Ghz GPU's soon.
