Via Aqua 1300 Help!!!
Just got my two via aqua 1300's and discovered quickely that they suck air into the waterstream like a motha.
God dang it, no one told me that they needed to be sealed! Dang, I was really excited about getting my water cooling rig up and running immediately, too. While we're on the topic of sealing, the aquavia 1300's don't LEAK water, do they? How do I go about sealing it? What do I buy? The Ehiems don't need any type of sealing, do they? You just pop 'em in and they work right off the bat, right? Thankee |
The Eheims don't leak but I'm not sure about the Via aqua. I have both and my Eheim never leaked but my Via aqua is in a res (submerged) setup so I don't know if the leak or not. You could try using Goop it seem to be a real solid sealant. I know alot of guys use it on thier Danners.

grab a small tube of water pump & thermostat housing RTV silicone from your local auto-parts store. or if you have plumbers goop or something similar, that should work as well.

Uh.. I've used the via aqua now for 5 months.. it doesn't leak at all.. yes it does suck water in real good :)
It needs about 2" of water above the in-take I even noticed in my new setup.. which had a hanging resevior .. water would flow down a tube at the center of the resevior into the pump.. the pump even then created a tornodo in the res and took in air.. it's a VERY powerful pump for it's size. |

I use the via both ways and the 1300 doesn't have any leaaaking problems unless you don't make sure it's screwed all the way on. But then again my ehiem 1250 leaks also if it's not screwed all the way on.

I used it both ways..

Yeah, I'm talking about inline. Sorry for not mentioning it. The pump doesn't leak, it just sucks in a lot of air after I bleed it.
Basically, as soon as I take it out of the water from bleeding, all this air starts appearing in the tubes and makes the setup really loud and annoying. I've got hose clamps, teflon tape, and all that good stuff on it already too. I gooped it to hell today so I hope that helps. |
