New res idea

I recently purchased a couple of items off of ebay.
1. 3 inch OD, 2.75 ID x 23 inch long acrylic tube
2. A couple of acrylic 2.5 inch OD slugs

I'm planning on making a new res for my water loop similar to this:

What does everyone think? The picture shows only one o-ring per slug for clarity, but I'm planning on putting two.

Stainless pins will be used to keep the slugs in their positions
It should be just as easy to pop open as a screw on cap dont you think?

Why not just use solvent cement and bind them good? That way you know it won't leak.

You couldn't unscrew them, but I don't see why you'd want to.

Yeah, I would, but the slugs i got off of ebay wont fit tightly in the tube... and an openable res is easier to clean/fill etc...

i say you make a twister rez! that would be cool, like diggrr on ocforums... like pepsis twister coolers, just not that big..

MeltMan 06-18-2002 11:28 PM

that would be damn cool...

I just gotta learn to melt plexi like pepsi does...

you mean for the jets? he used his oven for those actually... but you could just make a side inlet..

Be forwarned...

Melting plexi releases cancerous toxins into the air... and it smells very nasty.

That's why you should always cut it with a hand saw or any watercooled saw used for tile/masonry/glass, and not a dremel...

MeltMan:

That looks almost exactly what I just built out of PVC piping for my new res. (damn bottle kept leaking and cracking!) So far, I like it and I can even chance the fitting size at will!!

Looks good so far.....show us some pics when it's finished :D

MeltMan 06-19-2002 09:43 AM

Kind of... but I already made something similar to that.

The new acrylic tubing that's comming is3 inches in diameter and 23 inches long

I just cant wait to get it.

Is that by burning or melting?
