How to arrange in order?
WHich is the best sequence for the following setup?
1) CPU WB 2) GPU WB 3) Pump 4) Radiator 5) Airtrap Thks. |
I would say...
Pump -> CPU -> GPU -> Rad-> Air Trap -> |
i would put the gpu before the pump. because it makes less heat. and wont bring so much heat from cpu to gpu.

If i got another northbridge waterblock, where would it be place in the sequence.
Has it has to be the first as it give off least heat? |

I've ran tests using both setups and with the gpu inline first the water temp raised only 0.4c which was not enough to effect the cpu temps. However with the cpu inline first the gpu temps raised to over 50c. These tests were done on a amd xp1900+ overclocked to 1750 and using a gf4 ti4600 overlcocked (710/340) while looping 3dmark 2001 for 2 hours. cooling rig used: DD maze 3 cpu / gpu block eheim 1250 pump bix pro rev2 rad with 2-120mm in push pull |

isn't there a way to run cool water to both??

I'll have to dig out the paperwork to give you the exact temp readings that we got with it. But just know that from our experiement we had much better results with running the cpu last in the series of blocks (gpu, northbridge, hd, etc... being first) than the other way around. The temp difference was almost a 14 degree difference if I remember correctly. I was also in contact about DangerDen themselves about this very thing and they also backed up what we just found out. Now both of our tests were done in series and just the blocks in different order. I would now like to do a test on our best series config and compare it to a parallel setup and see which one gives the best temps. Also all of our temps were taking with the digital doc flat temp probes actually touching the cpu and gpu core for accurate readings. I hope this helps max, I will try to find the paperwork on the actual temps, but if not we can just recreate the tests again and then maybe include a parallel setup as well to find the best possible config. |
Don't use any of the above.
Get a couple of T's. Split the line at the at your cpu and gpu and have them in parallel so they are getting their own fresh supply of cool water. Then rejoin the lines after. cpu+gpu -> air trap -> pump -> rad If you are going to add a nbridge block, be sure to use 1/2" tubing, Split the lines to the gpu and the cpu, and have 1/2" continue to cpu, but shrink the 3/8" going to gpu line, and then split the gpu line again with a 3/8" T. This way you do not have to worry about flow so much, and all heat sources are isolated on their own lines. -Zoson |
I agree with Zoson, I'd run them in parellel (maybe with smaller hosing for the gpu), but use y connectors instead of T

BE CAREFUL in running parallel !!! This setup acts exactly like electricity and what I mean is electricity always follows the path of least resistance, so if you have your water source split and 1 side going to the cpu and the other side going to the gpu the block with the least amount of resistance will get the majority of the water flow. So if you do this make sure both water blocks have similar flow rates or you could be doing more harm than good.

...or add valves so you can control the flow to a particular block/combination.

i have mine running is series like this cpu>gpu and only got a 1c increase in my cpu temps
