rad and a/c
 

I'm still thinking about how i'm going to start my watercooling project. I'm not going to do anything too hardcore, just a simple pump-waterblock-rad-res I'm mostly just going for the quiet setup. I was just thinking if i wanted it to cool a little better without more effort, couldn't I just have the rad outside the case and have two fans in a push/pull formation, but have it set on top of the air conditioner vent inside my house? Not too complicated, it would just be blowing colder air through the rad, and if it's anything like my current hsf setup where the exhausted air isn't actually warm, it would also help get the cool air around my room too, which is a plus because it's usually hot in here. of course in the winter i'd have to move it because the a/c would become a heater, but then i could just stick the rad near an open window for cool air... I don't know, just sounded simple and at least semi-effective. Oh, and does the BiX need a shroud to work well? I'm just not good at making stuff, and don't really want to go to that much work. I still have to buy a few integral parts for my computer so it may be another month before i can purchase all my watercooling stuff, so i'm still in the planning stage.

The negatives you'll hear about it all, is that running a rad outside will give you different results, from day to day. It's OK for you, but it's not OK for someone that overclocked his CPU to the max, because it just wouldn't work on those warmer days.

The AC idea is good, you'll be able to cool your water under ambiant. It will take away a little bit from cooling your room though.

Because of this however, youll be switching to an outside rad right at the end of summer, since you probably won't be using the AC when the outside temp drops to 15-20C. You'd switch back at the beginning of the next summer.

For mounting a rad outside, depending on your window's design, you could route a couple of pipes through a piece of wood that would leave your window closed.
