linksys router keeps resetting

its the linksys 8 port router/switch and besides my current problem it works wonderously well. the problem is that the sucker keeps resetting.

i know it resets cuz A) for 2-3 secs all network activity come to a hault (music, games, surfing, etc) and B) all the little lights go blinking just like i powered it up... but once its all done everything goes on like nothing ever happened. its not really a problem unles its a FTP/HTTP download, then it gets cut off but everything else handles it fine...

its not overheating cuz it happens now at 20C ambient as often as it does when in 35C ambient... doesnt matter if i have a fan blowing on it.

i reset it multiple times and went through the config as well.... i was gonna update the flash but its the latest version already... but heres the weird thing, same version but different date. i have an older date of the same version flash comparted to whats on linksys's website.... so i havnt done it yet but i think i'm gonna have to if nobody has any other ideas...

Hmmm possibly a bad power connection? I've also heard of some of my friends with similar problems. It's possible that it could be faulty harware, but as for updating the firmware, this really doesn't sound like a software problem. Unfortuantely these devices are fairly low-cost compared to "real" routers which also means they are lower quality, possibly try to get a replacement if this problem persists, as the majority seem to work ok but some are just bad eggs.

Goodluck finding the problem, and always remember adding watercooling will probably only make your situation better :P unless ofcourse you plan on that refund :P

Mine did that, until I put it on an UPS. It hasn't reset since then.

I just got the smallest UPS I could find. It's well worth it.
