Newbie Water cooling, not happy with results, help?

Hey Guys, I hope you can help me out with this. Heres my setup , amd 1.4, asus a7v133, geforce3. 2cools water kit, 5x10 radaitor, rio 150gph, copper cpu block, alum video block.

Before I was straight fan cooling, and had fans out the arse :( sounded like a 747 taking off, my cpu temps per pc-probe, was 125 to 132, and video temps 116 to 122.

Now on this water kit, my cpu temps 123 ave, and video temps are 105. SO like a zero improvement on the cpu temps. Why? what is wrong , I have 3 sunon 90mm's pulling the air through the rad and have 2 90mm's blowing on door side. What am I missing or need to change to get my temps close to room temp.

Btw forgot to mention the asus mb temp says, 76 to 78.

Hope you running water wetter in there. Mixing alum & copper in the same system is a bad idea.

Does the rad feel hot? If not it is possible you've not got enough flow.

I'd replace the pump - rio don't have a good reputation for reliabilty. Depending on case space try a Eheim 1250. Alot of people swear by the Magdrive 500 pumps as well.

Oh yea got water wetter in there.
nope touch the radaitor and it is not hot.
SO I do not have enough flow ?

anybody else ? or ideas on why this is not cooling ?

Make sure the clip is tight as it will go. A tight thermal junction makes a world of difference.

pump is too small. With two blocks, I'de want at least 500gph pump.enhiem1250 or mag 5

The radiator is probly too small as well.
I'd go with the new dtec radiator.

yea it is, hard to turn and I scared to crush the chip, but as tight as it is, the socket flexes when I turn the wing nuts, so it has got to have a good tight face to the block.

I am really disappointed in the cooling of this system, I am going to try a diffenet pump , the mag drive will not fit in my res, so I will try it out of the computer to see if it helps any before I go modding again to make it fit the case.

Also could it just be the asus probes that are really really wrong ???

redleader 07-22-2001 11:59 PM

Probes suck hard on SocketA boards, but they do so consistanly. It won't decide to be 5C too low when air cooled and then switch to 10C to high when watercooled.

BTW, the 1250 is 317 GPH.

Try taking the video card out of loop and seeing what kind of cpu temps you get, it may be the video card heating up the water and overwhelming your setup.

well put a mag 5 on and still no difference in temp wtf?
