New Flow Direction and rig redo...
 

Hey all, I've been getting mighty hi idle temps... so I thought of this ghetto'd drawing of the previous flow direction... I've got a Via 1300 and it produces some hellish heat. I'll have the whole system off and come back after a few hours with the pump still being on and the water is pretty warm... The mysterious 40C idle at around 85-90F amb, then A/C on, amb drops to 21.5C and STILL 40C idle!

The 90 deg bends are really a killer.

Let's start with this: which one feels hotter, the rad or the block?

If it's the block, then you need to straighten everything up.

If it's the rad, then you need to increase the ventilation.

Let us know!

If the 90degs on the pump are suspect it looks as if they can be easily fixed by a little rotation of the pump. You might have to build a custom stand or something but that could easily be accomplished with a wooden frame or something, just an idea.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure... I reach world record shattering ambient temps last night!! 94.5F in my room, with the damn windows open and a huge 18" fan whirling around... Idles were about 42-44C North/CPU. I'm just going to go with there's something wrong with the mobo's sensor, cause even when I first start up cold on that 21.5C amb day, the NB was starting to climb temps from 23C while the CPU was still stuck at 40C and climbing. No matter how cold the amb is, the CPU never drops below 40C... On thing I've noticed is that the rad never seems to be hot, even though I can see the flow going in and out is hardly that fast, nor restricted.

The new proposed system has yet to be done, but with my current unit, the block will get pretty warm, but I never seem to feel any hot air flowing out of the RAD? I'll even open the case up and still don't feel much warm air. I've got a high pressure Sanyo 100CFM+ fan blowing air into it... which will be changed to suction soon as I have time... I'm not sure if this Chevette core preforms any better than my old Festiva one, which you could feel some serious heat coming out of it!

It could be that I've got some back pressuring going on in my case flow. THe 120mm in the frount, 92+80mm in the PSU, a 92mm blow hole near PSU (but no fan in it) and another 92mm on the side right at CPU leve... with no fan it it! lol These 92's I have just make too much noise...
