Maze 3 question !!
Hi there everyone! I have been browsing these forums for a while and decided today to join.
Here is my question, does a Maze3 run better with high water flow through it or slow? The reason being I currently have a Chevy Celebrity heater core with 1/2" barbs with 2 120mm fans at 12V (almost silent), ViaAqua 1300 350gph pump 1/2" barbs. I have a 1.4ghz Athon and am seeing temps of 33C from the insocket thermistor reading from a Abit Kx7 333-R mobo. Here in the next 2 weeks I am considering a tranfer of cases and cannot fit my heater core in there. There is no way possible to get a heater core in this new case. Here is a link to the exact case that I got: http://www.directron.com/imperial.html I believe that I can modify the back fan hole to fit the BIX. Is the transfer of cases worth it? I would be leaving a full tower. TIA!!:) |
Yikes! That's a seriously small case!!!
Tell you what, if you ever consider a blowhole, give me the dimensions, and I'll see if I can find an appropriate size heater core. You probably be sacrificing a 5 1/4 bay, to fit the core, and your fans would be mounted on top of the case, unless I can either find you a slim core, or you're willing to sacrifice a second bay. (I've downloaded all the specs from heatercore4u, and I'm compiling the data into a table) |
Where do you need the dimensions from?
I would like to just get the BIX to keep it clean looking and not have to mod the top of the case. Here is the pump and tank combo I am considering buying for the new case: http://www.sysfx.net/cgi-bin/cart.ex...s&sku=PT-188-S They have smaller ones which I will prolly have to consider buying since I have a cramped case. |
I took a look at Dtek's Chevette heater core. It doesn't look like it would fit in there. :(
I think I may be stuck with the BIX route and modding the top of my case. |

For example, your case' external dimensions are 7.75" x 18.75" x 16.00" (WxDxH). So if your PSU is 8 inches deep, then you'd have about 10 inches to fit something, by about 7.5". I can't tell if a 2 inch thick heatercore would fit, but they mostly come in either 2", or 1 5/8. A few are thinner, and fewer are thicker. |
I have about 9 1/2" clearance from the front of the case to the PSU (1 inch clearance added for wires).

2-750
Chrysler (9 3/16 by 7 1/16 by 1 5/8) For a 300M, any year For a Concorde, any year For an LHS, any year You'll have to work with the hoses (cut them off?), because they extend quite a bit, and are joined together with some kind of mounting plate. 2-770 Winnebago (9 3/16 by 6 7/8 by 1 5/8) Renault cab motorhome, any year This one though has the connections at either end of the rad, so it might be a hard fit. Now, go to any other site than heatercore4u, and find a cheap replacement! Heatercore4u is too expensive. (or check out your local car part shop) |
Alright I will check into that later this week.
So would a Black Ice Micro cool my puter pretty good if I purchased it? Somone from overclockers told me to get rid of my bottom 3 HDD bays. If I did that that would leave my about 4.5" clearance. Any heater cores that could fit there? |
Not that I know of, but I'm not halfway through the complete list yet.
