Finished Heatercore mod.

I got my heatercore this week from AutoZone for $24 and change. Well here is my progess. I still want clean the extra JB Weld off the pipes and paint all the edges but that will have to wait till the JB Weld has cured.

Hacked off first pipe and cleaned it up a bit. Extra piece on top for comparison.

Liberal appilcation of JB Weld around the part of the hose bard that is going in the pipe.
http://mail.crescentheights.com/pics/rad_mod2.jpg
5 Minutes in the oven to harden a bit of the JB Weld in the second pipe. I needed to do it into two parts because I needed a bunch of JB Weld. This idea I stole right off Procooling.com

Both fitings done!

Very cool, wish I had gotten a radiator that big, mine's JUST a hair too small for a pair of 120's.. But it does do a pair of 92's nicely.. :)

heh heh You know it Micheal :)

Una remember you could fit a couple of 120's on anything just shroud it.

Looks nice! A lot like mine. I like it!

resago 10-21-2001 07:35 PM

i got my leviathan in, and i am now considering a shroud...is it really needed or should i not bother? i see you mounted direct to the rad, aren't you at all worried about the dead spots? or is this size big enough to just not care? would certainly speed things along if i just forget the shroud...

LiquidCool 10-22-2001 12:48 AM

hehe pretty much :)

I belive 1970 Caprice. Not sure because I just went to AutoZone, told them what it was for and they were so perplexed the guy came with me help me open boxes as we looked at them one by one with two cd's in hand for sizing.

I will be making a shroud this was just for scale. You can see that the two 120's fit perfectly. Probably just make another shroud like I did last time, fiberglassed cardboard. Light and strong ohh yeah.

What is the Autozone part number on your core? It would help out several of us.....thanks

terabyte 10-23-2001 08:18 AM

if I could get into Hardforums I'll let you know the part number. If not I'll look it up when I get home.

Is anyone else having trouble getting into hardforums?

terabyte 10-23-2001 10:53 AM

in all fairness he doesn't make that much... I think that the mounting tabs are added by him.. the hose bard and jb weld came out to 7 buck and he spray paints it a hammer finish for you.

BAHHHH I still rather do it myself.

LiquidCool 10-24-2001 03:45 AM

Trust me it aint that much :)
