What Kind of paint did you use?Is that a Hammmared Black paint and did you use acrylic or enamel clear coat?

ToxicSoup 07-21-2002 11:42 AM

Yeah, it's rust-oleum hammered and i used krylon acrylic clear coat. I guess this is a bad combo eh?

Is there any way i could just sand it down, paint it with the hammered paint, then use the rubbing compound on it? Totally keeping out the clear coat.

I used the same on mine got the same results.I stripped it applied several coats of the hammered black and sanding inbetween each coat with a sanding block and 1500 grit turned out great!

You don't really need to sand hammerlack (hammerite or whatever you want to call it). Just put on a thick layer and use a brush (not a roller).

Also if memory serves you can't reliably paint anything over a layer of that stuff (except the same kind of paint).

Well, i decided to just leave it the way it was, it looked fine anyhow. Here are a couple pics of the finished product.

Nice poster! :)

er... nice case. ;)

If you could get the whole case to wrinkle like that, it might look good. Certain paints are designed to do that for a texture.

Cambridge Soundworks, oh yeah :)
