Going back to water after two years, need a block.

So, I watercooled way back when making PVC end caps was the "thing", so by the time I was out of it, the whole cooper vs. al crap was up and wild.
So now i'm way out of it :D

I'm wondering, for a Duron 1.3, would a cooper block be the only way, or did everybody just give up and conform to the "cooper trend"?

If not...i'm get'n out the old PVC end cap with K6 heatsink and firing it up again with a new clamp design :evilaugh:

well, the duron won't be too big a problem. but a copper HS might be the best alternative should u wish to upgrade to an 80W + processor(oc'ed state). so buying a Maze3, spiral, cuplex, swiftech WB will not make u feel disappointed. carheatercore would definetely be enough as radiator for any processor now available.

Woah.

Thats way before my time :)

Copper's the way to go. Throw in a heatercore and you have a cheap, all copper setup.

From what I hear, copper is basically just a "trend" with possible slight benefits over Al... But it's far more common to find blocks in copper now, the benefits are debatable but if you want performance to the 'n'th degree then I suppose copper would yeild the best results. But there are lotsa Al blocks out there performing nearly as well as the Cu.

However, I'm not toally sure what this PVC endcap business is.

Old Skool...PVC end caps were some of the first homemade waterblocks...watersinks as known to some.

Back when 1/4 and 3/8 inch barbs were all you needed and everybody learned how to properly mix JB weld.

Watersinks? I've never heard that one...

That thing looks like a telephone jack box!

Cu is the choice today, but Alu will make a comeback, because it can almost match copper, but only at high flow rates.

You guys are making me feel old... :D

He he...

I remember slapping heatsinks on 486s, without any thermal paste. Back then, it was really optional!
