I'm looking to do the same thing, but I also worried about too much flow, and blowing off a barb or something. Clamping tight will obviously fix it, but, just to experiment, I figured I might try a valve to control the thing.

Also, are they shielded? Does anyone know for sure?

I have a model 3....

Remember, SEAL THAT SUCKER UP!. Yeah, it'll stay leak free for about a month without any attention to it, but after that the oring starts to leak. I used threadsealer and it works fine.

I'd be very surprised if that pump (or any other common pump used for watercooling) was able to produce even 5 psi. At that low pressure, you've really nothing to worry about in terms of having hose slip off of barbs. My pump is a bit more powerful than most (9.5 psi cutoff) and I have no problems in my system... I even leaktested with no clamps without issue. However, for peace of mind, always use clamps :D

Or solid copper tubing :D :D

what part need sealed up ?
what if it is used submersed ...?

Skulemate 07-31-2002 09:27 PM

I believe it is the front impellor housing that leaks, though someone correct me if I am mistaken. If it is submerged, then there's no problem, now is there?

Seal it regardless, even if it is submereged. You loose pressure and flow with a leak.

My leak was like 10cc of water once a week, it was just a slow drip. So I wouldn't worry about it if it's submerged.
