Antec 1240 owners: Can I fit a 12*6 heatercore on the top??

Mines coming this week and if it fits I'll pick a "double core" up on my way home from work tomorrow. :D

I'd like to fit it like so:

Thanks !

if the fin area is 10x5x2 i know wich heater core you ahve and it will just barely fit but it will be a bugger. I finnaly backed of to a 91/2x6x2. You would not believe how much difference 1/2 inch makes. For that size I put it were the lower drive bays are.

Its the basic double that everyone passes the part number around here for. Part number 399026.

My plan is to cool the rad passively. I should have a slight possitive pressure in my case combined with natural convection. I'm not a freak about temps, so I don't care if its warmer, so long as its stable. I just want quiet.

How is tight? I assume it bumps against the edge of the 5.25 inch bay? I won't be ussing that bay, so I could dremel some of it off. Would that be OK?

Thanks webmedic.

well lets put it this way you will have to put the rad into the 5 /14 inch bay it will not fit over the powersupply and be usable. You will be blocking half the rad witch will kill most of the cooling you will get from it.

From an actual size standpoint I just measured mine and you have 11x7x2 so just size wise you should be ok.

I'm modding an SX1240 right now. My rad. is 11x6x2. I am having a little trouble getting things placed right though. I would like them to fit a little better.. With my setup I probably wouldn't be able to put any drives in the top two bays because the rad/fans will be in the way, and I'm going to have the tubes go into the rad. above the PSU. It's really the best way I think I can get it in. I'm getting to the point where I just want to get it finished so I can get my new computer up and running. :D

Oh, and if it's 6" wide, it will just barely fit between the walls for the 5 1/4 bays, so you don't need to cut them up, it is just long enough so that you can't put a drive in the bay.

Thanks!

I'm finished phase one of putting together a database of heater cores from heatercore4u, now I've got to enter the cars...

In the mean time, if you give me dimensions, I'll lookup the equivalent car model, then you can go to your local shop and pick it up.

Its a basic ford econoline core which autozone sells for $28 a pop (in stock too), but thank you.

Always have to one up me BB :D

Actually, what do the seiral numbers corrisond to? they don't look like GDI (or whatever autozone uses).

bigben2k 08-06-2002 03:38 PM

It's the part# from heatercore4u.

No really, I'd like to know, because I'm having a problem relating the core sizes that are posted, with the real dimensions of these cores. i.e. do the posted dimensions include the tanks?
