Want an online HC size guide? =)
I need something to do at work (basically browse internet for 8 hours...)
Would people find it useful to have a guide online that listed all sizes & models of heatercores available? As in dimensions & car models to aquire from, etc...? :D I'd have to find somewhere to host it, although I've been considering my own domain for a while now... Well?  |
I'm already working on it. I've got the heatercore4u website's data, and so far, I've compiled the radiator sizes in a database. Now I have to create a table to match the cars...
If you've got time, then maybe we can work on it together, but I gotta tell you, I had planned to put it up here at Procooling (with Joe's permission). |
That would be a pretty useful article.

Well, I was going to do it because I *thought* no one else was doing it. It would solve the never ending question "What HC would fit...."
But if you've already started on it... :) But one question, just to make sure... Did you know all the measurements on Heatercore4u's website is core-ONLY, excluding end-caps. For example : http://www.heatercore4u.com/2-415.htm is for a Ford escort - exact one I have, the measurements are correct for the core only. Actual height is 9" from end to end. This is the biggest setback I've come upon in my deciding to try this. |
I was aware that the dimensions might not include the tanks, it's nice to see that confirmed. At least one of the dimensions is correct.
BTW, I found that most heatercores are either 1 5/8, 2 or 2 1/2 inch thick. I'm guessing that the thicker ones will perform better. |
Reply in the afirmative. I wouldn't mind hosting the finished product.

If we could somehow get the actual sizes of the heatercores, it would make this so much easier & faster.
I have a full catalog of HC's from a company, and it too lists only the dimensions of the core (fins) itself. :( Anyone here work at an Autozone, etc? Just do a bit of measuring ;) |
Well I have many heater cores here and the tanks are all almost the same. I could measure at least some of them.

That's be nice WebMedic!

Most the American style heater cores will come in at 1 3/8 inches. This doesn't matter if they are ford or chevy or what have you. The other styles have tanks much like the black ice only larger. This covers most over seas radiators. The others varry allot but most will be less than 2 inches and greater that 1 3/8inches. Hope this helps some. Also to note allot of the newer american radiators are thesame style as the over seas ones.
