Installing Dangerden "Maze2" blocks with spring hold-downs?

Looking for someone with prior experience who is willing to share tips about their "technique" for installing the Dangerden "Maze2" block with its four-post and spring hold-downs:

on an Athlon T-bird? Mostly the question boils down to "how tight is tight enough"??

For an Athlon T-bird with the four rubber pads around the core:

For the CPU I have, the pads are higher and thicker than the core, should one take the rubber pads off, or leave the pads on and just use more spring force to compress them down to bring the block in contact with the core?

What's the best way to judge how tight to crank the springs down??

I like to crank mine down until the spring coils almost touch, but do not go until they do, just to make sure a hose won't lift an edge and cause chipping.
The athlon pads are there to help you place the block or heatsink on, then bring it down to the core evenly. They don't exhibit enough resistance to make any difference if you remove them, I'd leave on them for the almost inexistant safety factor they add.

ditto on the springs. remember to tighten them in a star pattern.

I have a lexan clamp on my block, I cranked that sucker almost as tight as the spring allows. The amd spec is very high for core pressure. Don't skimp. Just be careful.
