what the f***, am i such a loser

i just can't believe it anymore. although i haven't had this kit in my hands, but i get the same load/idle temps as this reviewer with a kit whereas if i just look at the rad it looks like it could hardly cool 20W of heat. are we all that far off with our supercooling setups that we can match performance with a kit that looks that shabby?

we need a comparitive review of all these kits fast, by someone who takes the testing seriously. i hope the procooling staff gets up to speed once again so we will know if all our flaming is righteous.

He's measuring the temps with a compunurse, but he doesn't specify how. I'd assume an under-the-cpu probe was setup, and so the core temps are probably 5 deg C higher than he indicated.

Also, he only ran the load program for 12 minutes, and IMHO, that's just not enough time to properly measure a temp. You can see it in the graph, all he shows is the temp rise, not where the temp stabilizes. A stable temp for a one minute time period just doesn't cut it for me. Bad review.

Don't beat yourself up, I'm sue Joe would pound on him for such a lousy review. Your temps are achieved, where this rig probably does at least 5 degrees worse than what is stated.

I don't see the room temp anywhere...

well, i kinda follow another n00bie kinda forum in my mother tongue. i can point out +/- 5 ppl that are eagerly awaiting any positive review about that specific kit, so they have an excuse to buy it. i keep linking em to this forum, but for some ppl the idea of spending 100$ on a kit, whereas someone else spends 2x to 3x the price for a 'quality' kit, seems like the bargain of their lifetime. if u c the early reviews of the procooling.com front page where there are pages spent on the ********** info; it seems crazy of those reviewers, but more so lame on the other reviewers that spend a couple of paragraphs on a complete kit. i'm not saying it is rocket science; but i bet my ass that any n00b that buys the kit and installs it with the manual at hand, that he will have a lot of spots where he has to guess how to solve certain problems that will arise.

whatever, it ain't my problem

god damn backround!

who cares.. we all know that is a shitty water cooling kit..

nexxo 08-22-2002 01:25 PM

Hmmm.... the radiator looks like a miniature version of the Serck --the best radiator available for watercooling ever (an aircraft part, actually), so the rad may actually not be so bad (although it is tiny...). Having said that, the waterblock looks pretty poor, the pump is unimpressive.

And lets face it, those temps are not spectacular on a non-O/C'd system. I concurr with the bigster that not knowing room temps, and 12 minutes runtime is not enough to get an accurate impression of performance at all.

The rad looks sort of interesting, but the fan hardly covers it. It needs a shroud. The rest of the kit seems poor to me.

Puzzdre 08-22-2002 03:20 PM

Besides, where's all the DIY fun in that ???

g.l.amour 08-22-2002 04:56 PM

well, if u read the review it says that he overclocked a 1600xp to 1630MHz with 1.8V, thats about my situation and temps, only, i got a hayden rad + carheater rad in series. the fun is indeed the diy because it looks as ghetto as hell

Puzzdre 08-22-2002 05:13 PM

look, just consider quality/endurance and put a big smile on your face...:D

g.l.amour 08-22-2002 05:36 PM

you are right. but when i was n00by on internet i considered a good review to be of the same journalistic integrety as our newspapers (i have learned that newspapers can also make up good stories) but all the same. it just makes me wonder, watercooling is something i consider to be an insider on. if you are not, the reviews that make u feel as if it is all a no-brainer 5 minute job are the ones u like to believe the most, because everyone has a certain lameness inside. so i feel a little disgusted by alot of sites i would have trusted 2yrs ago.

nuff about that anyway

Puzzdre 08-22-2002 05:57 PM

I belive we all went through that...

Lets move on!

jamicon 08-30-2002 06:30 AM

i saw a review of that kit elsewhere, and they mounted the fan on the other side of the radiator, it sat about 10mm above the radiator, and as you can see in the pic the air would definately not go thru it. I wrote to the author, and he said they told him to do it that way.

the way i see it, you cannot trust any site at all, with the exception of a few (that you know are not for the noobs)
