Video/Computer Games Banned in Greece
Here's an overclockers.com commentary:
http://www.overclockers.com/tips00103/ And here's an english translation of the law: http://www.gameland.gr/lawenglish.htm The law is pretty simple, really. The government in Greece passed a law that bans all forms of computer and video games. Supposedly this is an attempt to squash gambling associated with computer games, ehhhh. |
Insert "Poor Greeks, getting it up the butt by their government" joke here.
Seriously, I emailed the Tourism board of Greece already, telling them to kiss my travel dollars goodbye. Too bad, Greece was on my top ten list too. When you start limiting personal rights and freedoms because of poor policing, and lazy government, and I tend to get a little upset about it. |
I'm not surprised. Greek police isn't known for their finesse. There's nothing quite like being greeted at the airport by greek policemen, waving machine guns at your face telling you to put out that "tsigaro", until some kindly reminds you that there's no smoking. It happened to a friend of mine.
