Water Cooling a Radeon 9700

There is a discussion over at http://www.hardforums.com/showthread...5&pagenumber=1 about water cooling the radeon 9700 video card.

Unfortunely, there is a problem with the GPU being set below a ring. I wanted to make the following suggestion but they are not accepting new members... maybe some one could post it for me.....

Perhaps the following Cold Plate could be cut to the right size. I would make it a bit bigger than the core, then using AS3 center and AS Thermal on the outside, attched the block (ie DD GF4). Make sure that the hold down hold are not covered. Should be ideal then.

Thanks

whenever I get my 9700 I am gonna watercool it and will take your suggestion into mind. I haven't watercooled my 8500 by now due to the no holes. I was always pissed at Radeons now having mounting holes. Finally I can watercool and not have to epoxy a block on it!

I had a similar idea. I bought a solid piece of copper that is 3/16 " thick. I plan to cut it slightly larger than the core and glue it to my DD GF4 waterblock with AS epoxy. I plan to lap both sides of the copper as well.
