with this you would be able to plug it into the mobo, and then use it for RPM monitoring by making it into a cheap flow rate sensor!

good idea, only I think the smallest one is 60 x 60 (if I remember correctly)... little too big..

the magnets would prevent the fan blade from spinning freely (just grab ur CPU fan and give it a spin; you should see what im talking about). you'ld have to remove them to get is to turn freely which could ruin its water-resistant properties. not only that, but the smallest fan available is 60mm.
rigging it up as a 'cheap flow rate sensor' might be difficult to impossible. but if any-1 does do it, post pics :p

The way I see it, this may alleviate the problem of the bong running out of water. It would also allow the use of additives (water wetter, etc.) without the accompanying stench. :shrug:

You know, I was only joking... that fan won't be very powerfull at all, to move water, I'm sure it wasn't meant to be used that way, rather it was probably meant to be used in a very humid application, like sucking air up a bong. The waterproof thing is just a demo.

You'd be better off with a belt driven paddle wheel. BTW, you'd still need a pump for that second loop.

Well, I didn't put it in the picture, but there is a pump on the CPU loop. Basically, I was thinking that the fans could be used to circulate the water thru the rad when there is water, or air if there is no water. While it would not be the most efficient setup without the bong water, it would probably keep your CPU from getting toasted until you can add water to the bong system. I hope this clears up any misunderstandings.

there's no way in heaven that that fan will even move when under water! 7 blades, pretty angled, low power...

only way to make this fans useful is to put them into the tube of the bong, not necessarily on the top or side intake, just to accelerate air going up... also, I think that would increase evaporation more... the good thing is that water from the shower head wont hurt the fan...it should be working (I suppose so...)

Well, that is not exactly clear from any info either here or at the website specified above. However, if the DO run underwater, they would not have to move very much water to be useful. Like I said previously, this may be a useful "fail-safe" in the event of bong water depletion.

Does anyone ever actually build these bongs that everone submits drawings on?? I see them everywhere in the Forums, which is cool, just wondering if people ever actually make some of these things. :D

The main drawback of those things is they're not very portable in general...I'm thinking of making one just to see how it all work, but having only one computer for now make it just an idea...
Another thing, the clear tubes here are impossible to find, so I'm waiting...:rolleyes:
