Drive Bay Reservoirs

Would anyone be interested in clear acrylic Drive bay reservoirs? Raccoon from the Pro/Chat expressed interest in it. Would you guys think such product can have a market?

SonixOS 09-16-2002 01:56 PM

oh I can make the acrylic out of any color. if anyone wants something to match his light.

Technonut 09-16-2002 04:03 PM

I would be interested in a couple. One with 3/8" barbs, and the other with 1/2". (depending upon cost ;) ) Blue would be nice. PM me with details if you can provide them.

SonixOS 09-16-2002 04:59 PM

I will make a prototype and post pictures. If Raccoon likes it I can give it to him or I can just make him another one. I will try to get the prototype goin as soon as possible.

Hey, I was wondering, if having a peice run part way down the center, to force the water to have to at least somewhat go to the front and back, before going back out, to try to mix it up a little bit would help it out, I would think all you have to do is cut a piece to fit right along it, and then be about 1 inch short of reaching the front of it.

SonixOS 09-16-2002 09:11 PM

naah. reservoir just holds the water. No need to mix it up or anything. Not like the water thats in there longer would be cooler or anything.

i'll be interested depending on how they look :-)

I made one a while back, it worked fine... problem was... it wasn't an air trap because it wasn't at the highest point in the system. Which is rather unfotunate.

Raccoon 09-18-2002 12:34 PM

In my system it WILL be the highest point in the sytstem.

I am putting the pump in the 3.5 bay, and rad is underneath the bays, and the block is barely below the resevoir

utabintarbo 09-18-2002 03:56 PM

SonixOS 09-18-2002 03:58 PM

will there be a drilled faceplate where we can see our liquid?

How much do u charge if shipped to Singapore? I would like to have red acrylic (light red, not pink):D

Hallis 09-19-2002 06:05 AM

i'm still waiting for a pic of the prototype....

DarkEdge 09-19-2002 07:09 AM

Pic! Sounds cool. I made one once, then I stepped on it while it was under my blanket in my room. It never even got used. :(

icel0rd 10-01-2002 05:14 PM

Still no picture yet, eh ? I think I might just go ahead and make one myself. It can't be very hard to do anyway as long as you can cut the acrylic with a straight edge and properly seal the joints.

SonixOS,

I'd buy one! If you build it, I will buy, perfer one the size of two bays.

wouldn't the other drives near the res add heat to the system?

SonixOS 10-13-2002 10:09 PM

no, acrylic is a better thermal insulator than glass. If glass wouldnt, u think acrylic would?

TheCurse 10-20-2002 08:46 PM

so how long till we can buy one?

SonixOS 10-20-2002 10:44 PM

I just got drill bits today. I'll have to cut up from my old acrylic cuz i shattered one of the sides :(. happens when u go too fast. But i'll try again and come back. Tomorrow i'm thinking would be a good day to finish this up.

i will also make one for fun :) maybe we can both make one and exchange ideas to improve teh design of it. :)

btw, what r u using to seal the acrylics together? the acrylic in acetone stuff or chlorofoam?

SonixOS 10-22-2002 05:36 PM

I personally prefer solvent cement. Very good stuff. Hard to get but worth it. READ UP on it then try it. Very dangerous.

p0b0y 10-24-2002 12:03 AM

That would kick ass. I have the POS dangerden one.

icel0rd 10-24-2002 12:40 PM

Still no update on when someone can get one, eh ? No pics?
