rad roundup: bigmamma has "lead" solder?
 

I noticed that in the Big Mamma's description, it said that the edges are sealed with lead solder. Is that lead like poison lead or fake lead or something else? I would think it's funny if it was real lead (maybe not if I had one right now).

It could be lead free solder but unless you plan on eating a few thousand of them or running your drinking water through a load of them it won't harm you. There is so much fuss made about what is good and bad for you these days it's getting silly. In my grandads day all pipe work was lead, he went through a couple of world wars and smoked like a chimey and he died of old age.

Good point. I just thought that the wording was intersting.

Yeah it maybe just the way they've explained it to indicate it is soldered rather than glued etc. It doesn't really matter what solder is used though, but to me it would certainly be a plus point of the design as soldering, (if done correctly), is far better than glue, crimping, brazing or other forms of sealing in my opinion :)

Danger Den water blocks have soldered lids and can take 1000 plus PSI. Not even sure the solder is the failure part, there is a downloadable movie on there site showing one being Pumped to destruction :D

What this means is:
1. Don't lick it
2. Don't cook your food on it
3. Don't rub your eyes on it
4. If you do handle it, wash your hands before eating or rubbing your eyes.

its the same precautions you us when you are working with lead based solder. ( in the solders case it has another warning - dont eat it).
