anyone using an iwaki here?

hear lots of good stuff about em. i'm asking because in my new setup the 1048 can't prime the system anymore, and i do'nt want to take the risk that the 1250 fails too.

what kind of iwaki's are u using? what about noise?

Not yet, but I will be next month;) The most popular model is the RLT 20. It has a max head of 14' 420GPH at 4' and only uses 52w.

u make sure u keep us posted then, it is mighty hard to find a review or anything than some priclists online. are u sure about that wattage of that model? thought it was less.

Looks way to expensive. :D

Here are some Little Giant pumps:

And some "Supreme" pumps (looks kinda like Danner mag drive):

I have a Little Giant 2-MDQ-SC (but I don't have a waterblock:confused: ).

Similar rating to the RLT20, but rated at >180 Watts. I should mention that it's a hybrid direct-drive/mag-drive (a motor drives a set of magnets, which in turn drive the impeller) so it's probably hard to compare it straight with another pump.

I picked it up at a flea market for $40.00 :D

Thats the specs they give here. It's very low consumption for such a powerful pump.

From what I get from reading the H-Q curves, I'd say that the 20RZT is better suited to our needs. I just wish I could justify spending $222CAD on a new pump when my Little Giant is still running ok (though it's very close to its shutoff head, and I'd love to have my pump run a little more efficiently).

i might have an interesting graph for y'all, u'll have to stick with the dutch language, but that should not be too gr8 of a prob.
if there is stuff u do not understand, ask.

i have a feeling that in my country they cannot even be had, except if u r a chemicals processing firm. :-(

well if it proves to be too much hassle , an eheim 1250 will be happy to be housed in my comfy case.

No shame in using an eheim... I have one mounted on a piece of foam, and it is quiet and been running for over a month now w/out shutoff beautifully.

pfft, you should see what they are asking for an eheim locally in europe, i mean i could ride with my bike to germany in a day, and still they cost about 100$ here, bout the same price as that super exclusive iwaki would cost in the US. so consider yourselves lucky.... ;-)

gmat 10-17-2002 07:57 AM

But consider the great bike ride - on those German highways, with no speed limit ! :D

shaft01 10-17-2002 08:29 AM

I have a MD20RLT, a MD15RLT........420 gph and 300 respectively.....

Great pumps.......quiet and reliable........

Here is a link to the best deal I could find on the MD20.......note there is a 15% special running on all their Iwaki pumps......making the final price around $122.......shipping was about $9 from CA to GA

here

They shipped fast too.......

g.l.amour 10-17-2002 08:34 AM

haha, @ gmat, i meant my VTT. lol no speed limit, cruising @20mph on the german highways. i was just illustrating that i am but a fartdistance away from germany, and still those pumps have to cost that much here.

dax 10-17-2002 11:05 AM

i mailed iwaki belgium once bout the price of the MD30 series... 360 euro (including taxes)...

I have a Eheim 28 watt 1250, I sure don't want to use a 52 watt pump. Thats about half what your CPU will put out.
