What *SCSI* Hard drive
 

due to all the complaints about no scsi drives in my previous poll, this is a poll for all you rich guys (or the dreamers) ;)

Oops, I meant to click 15k3, not X15...

Now if it can be updated, so that the ATA WD 2000JB doesn't outperform it...

Since price is always a factor, I'm a fan of the 36Z15.

I already own a 10K.6, planning to get a 15K.3 to complement it on Xmas.
Ah side note: the 10K.6 is incredible ! The motor noise is low and deep (not a high-pitched whine..), and seek noises are dampened enough. It's even more silent than recent IDE drives (WD and Maxtor) i bought at work ! Just as any 7.2K+ drive it *requires* active cooling though... It's not quite hot but if left alone it becomes uncomfortable to touch.
If you cannot get a 15K.3 it's really the next one to get !

I have a pair of 18.3G Seagate Barracuda LVD's, I just need to get a newer host adapter. I got them for free out of an novell box that was upgraded and then two month later the company was sold and they went to an AS400. The adaptec 2940 I have only runs the drives a half there proformance. Would like to get 29320 and a pair of 15k.3 36G's.

It was a tought decision for me...

I have heard great reviews about the Fijitsu MAM drives but I question their long-term reliability.

I am not sure about the reliability and performace about the IBM drives but I do like the performance on their IDE drives.

I was very parcial to Quantum SCSI drives until they got bought out by Maxtor. But the Maxtor SCSI line is just Quantum drives with a Maxtor name.

So my vote went with the Seagate Cheetah 15Kv3 because they are practically the fastest drive on the planet, have a good track record, heard great reviews, heard little complaints, and almost no problems. I wouldnt mind haveing a few to upgrade my 5 disk RAID array. :)

IBM's IDE hard drives may have been plagued by a serious engineering problem, but their SCSI drives are still top notch (IMO). The 146Z10 offers amazing storage for a 10K disk. The 15K disk sound cool, but I am waiting to see their running shelf life, no use spending big bucks on a disk that has a higher tendency to fail (but maybe not). The Seagate disk are nice as well, another top notch company. And I heard somewhere, I believe on IBM's own website that they were letting Fujitsu build their disk in exchange for technology and research information royalities for IBM stuff. I am checking the validitity of that statement now. And it does look strange that Fujitsu released their *own* model HDs that are the same as the IBM 146Z10 and the 36Z15 just with different model numbers, look at the specs of the first four drives in the list, it will make you wonder.
