I taste burning...
So i'm having a dandy old time installing and reinstalling Windows 2000(long story, don't ask)...so I need to boot from a floppy, but its not working. Off to open up the case and check cables. I do so and I find that the power is not connected, and reach my head in to hook it up...
Sniff Sniff...familar smell... Smells like burning. The only thing I can think of is the nice warm pump. Anyone care to smell their Maxi-Jet pumps for me? I know that the pump will shut down when it overheats, but I just want to see if anyone else is getting these smells...if they are indeed from my pump. |
Do you mean BURNING smell, or do you mean burning?(as in a new PSU kinda smell?). any new components?. everything still working?. temps in BIOS?...
|
burning as in high voltage electrical heating up burning. As i've smelt this before in my fluorscent lamp...and its 120v, so none of the other components should smell like this...and my face was on top of the pump...so no chance of smelling anything else.
Everything works fine, temps are fine... |
Did you feel the pump?
Should be able to easily figure out where the burning smell is comming from with some CAREFULLY placed fingers ;) |
yeah the pumps nice and warm...but not enough to go "OH SHIZNIT!!" But I figured the fact that I already said the pump was nice and warm in my post pretty much covered that I have been touching my pump.
That, and it has an automatic temp shut off...or at least advertised. |
