Hey folks,

I think as you can see on the staff roster on the site, stuffs getting a tad thin on the staff. Beav is in lala land doing school stuff, Kevin is off to pursue working on Nuke reactors and fun stuff like that, and everyone else besides Bri, Ph and myself are gone and busy with life.

Now this cant stand. One thing that’s hard about finding new folks to step up and perform on the staff is finding people who not only know how to write but have the time to write, and have the knowledge to back up what they are writing about. Its a very rare combination and rarely websites have even 1 person that can fulfill those requirements.

I think if there are some people like that I could find them in here, But I have come to terms that I suck as a recruiter... of all the people I have tried to get on the site, many have helped a lot, but an equal amount never did anything. Some are not even listed as Alumni simply because after a bunch of talk back and forth and inviting them onto the site, they said "Cool! I will get right onto getting stuff done for ya!" and well 3 years later, and I still have nothing from them :rolleyes:

So, if you: [list=1][*]are smart or at least have an open mind and are willing to learn[*]SERIOUSLY have the time to commit to producing interesting articles/reviews at least once a month[*]and have a solid grasp on how to write with some flare and style. ( no one has 3 days to proof and fix bad writing including me).[*]Have a Digital Camera that’s not a POS[*]Have a solid interest in high end cooling and advancement in cooling technology.[*]Have a good personality and attitude. Looking for mature, and personable folks.[/list=1]
Then I think we can use you on the site. Please PM me in the forum, reply, send carrier pigeon, or email me if you are interested in helping the site.

We currently are in a nice solid position with our sponsors, and reader base and I think we have a ton of potential to kick it up a few notches if we could just get some more solid writing talent on the site. (cause lord knows I suck :p)

What would really rock is to get some niche or independent writers out there that run their own lil sites to come onboard. I am sure we could work something out where they could host their site on the PC server as a lil money saving perk to them :) I am just thinking of ways to get the best writing staff I can on the site to help solidify ProCooling as the center for all things cooling related. (yet still nicely niche like :D)

If you got questions you can normally find me in the Pro/Chat after 6:00pm every day. ( or one of the other staffers or regulars.)

I can't (off the top of my head) think of many people that are active enough at doing projects and articles, knowledgable enough, reasonably literate, not already tied to a website, and willing to work for free (that's the real kicker, eh?). Try bugging Morphling1 from the forums, he seems pretty sharp and always has something going on. If you could disable his caps lock, Bowman also is a phase change guru (he already has a site though). Similarly, Bladerunner does outstanding work but already has a website. Maybe you should make up with Una :)

Alternatively, would it be possible to have rewards for guest writers rather than bringing on more slackers? I have seen a lot of projects (in our forums even) of late that are worthy of Procooling's posting, but not anyone standing out as doing that sort of thing on a regular basis. I bet you could line up some GCs or products from sponsors that would be pretty tempting.

If you are willing to let the past be the past and give me a chance. I can help you out. I have the experience. I have the time <-- I mean come on I modded my fridge I was so bored. I do apologize for my behavior on the forums in the past and would like to become part of the Pro/Staff. Well I guess that's all I can say. Hope you'll at least consider me for the position. You should also be upfront that becoming a Procooling staffer means that you'll be banned from HardForums (I dunno if that is considered a plus or a minus though).

If it's any help, for those who would consider becoming a writer, make sure you have all your tools with you! Not having my Dremel with me has delayed me a great deal.

I wrote an airtrap article (still being edited), but I did send Joe the pics (You got them, right?).

I've got enough ideas to write an article a month.

OK Joe has some good stuff (tm) in the works. I just got a secrate message :)

Would it incite violence if a n00b such as myself asked what this means?

I'm not sure someone in the UK will do you, but:

- I'm a computer geek since 1986;
- I have a pretty reasonable knowledge on all things computing and I'm good at sourcing solutions to weird practical problems;
- I'm working on a WC project right now;
- I can write and draw (I write clinical reports after all, and am currently working on an illustrated book on the brain and brain injury containing cartoons and anatomical drawings);
- I own a Fuji Finepix s602 :D
- I own a dremel.

Hey Guys, I am hatching a plan!!

A way to let some of you who dont have the big time to spend on writing stuff every month but may have a few cool projects you want to get posted. And in this way you get some free stuff to!

Keep an eye out for the end of the week I plan to post something :)

I'm interested too. The only things holding me back are time and money (I'm a full-time college student with no job, but I work on the hollidays so I can fund projects during the school year). I'm currently studying Mechanical Engineering (one of my current courses is Thermodynamics I, which relates very much to watercooling). Because of my dedication to school however, I would only be able to drop an article here and there, but not on a regular basis.

As being part of the forum community for quite some time, I feel that I should somehow "give back to the community" by heling you out. Granted I do not have tons of time on my hands and I do mantain (1) full time job, (1) part time job [private consulting when called upon], and a household to maintin [ammazing just how close college students relate to teenagers :) ]

If there is something I can do to assist ProCooling, be it a quick review here and there, moderating the forums, or peanut gallary comments, :) I am more than happy to help. Drop me a line if you feel like giving me a shot.

I think it would be neat if ProCooling gave a chance for all of us hobbyist WCers to show our work to a wider audience, instead of dwelling in obscurity susbsisting on what bandwidth we can find. In most cases, I think we are limited to forum posts to present our stuff, which (unless you take the time to frequent many forums concurrently) usually means one or two forums. Those who don't read WC forums will probably never see it. On the other hand, with legitimate articles ala Overclockers a lot more people can see our work.

The second advantage is that even good, informative forum posts tend to fall out of view fairly quickly. User-submitted articles would maintain this information in an easily accessible manner.

The reason I say this is that a lot of people put a significant amount of research in their WC rigs that can inspire others to replicate or modify ideas. Also, hobbyists like myself like to be rewarded when their ideas and hard work can be seen by everyone.

Take for example my first foray into the WC arena: my portable, interchangeable, quiet, high-performance cooling "platform" (open-box). If you haven't seen it, then it is evidence of the aforementioned phenomenon relating to forum posts. I think it was a good idea that had a lot of potential for further development, unfortunately I did not have the resources to improve upon it. Because of its quick decline into forum archive oblivion, few saw it and I bet fewer if any were inspired by it. However, if I had submitted it as an article somewhere, maybe someone out there would see that it satisfies their particular cooling application, and be motivated to improve upon it.

I think I speak for all WC hobbyists when I say it feels good to see someone use one of your ideas and transform it into something different or better.

If you guys start taking guest submissions for articles (and I think thats what everyone seems to be hinting at) I'd be happy to send in writeups for any projects I do. I don't have near the time/money to do articles/projects on any kind of regular basis - but when I do take on a project (I think I average one a year or so) I usually make it a good-one. (current planning for next project will be a phase-change system to compete in the 2003 Fragapalooza case-mod competition). Ever since GlideUnderground died (well, it's kinda still there, but not really, anyone who used to visit back in the day knows what I'm talking about) I've been watching out for a good friendly site where I could get my occasional articles posted, and ProCooling would be my first choice if ya start allowing it.

Fragapalooza is in Edmonton, right? Maybe I should go this year...

OC has a similar setup, and they've got tons of articles. A lot of them are one-timers, some came back once or twice, and some are regulars.

Heck, you might even get the great BillA himself to post something here!

Collecting the articles from one-timers would give a good amount of texts on various themes to choose from, and can serve as a good base for monthly or whatever suitable rythm of publishing.
There are lot's of people willing to do it (me too), but not with an obligation.
Somehow I think (don't get me wrong now, pls!) that there will be more good articles collected this way cos' everybody will try hard to make it good, clear and respectable for posting it on pro/cooling, as pro/cooling being a place where it doesn't matter the 3DMark scores are high or not, or case being all sparkly and all.

Yes - Fragapalooza is held annually in Edmonton AB every summer - but they are also starting to branch out a bit too (Fragapalooza-East is in a week or two somewhere in eastern canada, not sure on location). Anyways - if ya come to the next one post about it on here sometime closer to the event and we can plan to get together for a beer or something.

Depends on if I can get all my UV fans and blue leds installed by then cova.
