Dual Black Ice mod

I just completed my dual Black Ice mod. I was not happy with a single BI but I do love the size. Now I figured that since the BI extreme is so good and it looks like a black ice, just wider. So why not put 2 normal BI facing each other and place a T joining the intakes from both, I did the same with the outtake as well. This would double the flow in the water block, since the BI's are running in parallel. Ok, so here are the results:
before:
42c cpu and after 36c.
This is running prime 95 for 2 hours and a room temp of 23c.
I did not move the block between tests.

I guess that the block really likes the higher flow!

Here is my system:

AMD 1100@1302, 2.05vcore.
maze II upgrade
abit kt7a ver 1.0
1/2 ID and 5/8 ID silicone hose
Ehiem 1250 pump
2x pabst 120mm, 55 cfm

Very cool ;']

Just one q. What's the T junction on the upper tubing in the last pic for?

The problem with the T is one black ice might be taking more water then the other one bc of gravity just the bottom black ice is doing 70% of the cooling and the top of is only doing %30 bc its not geting as much water as the other one. So it ends up being better to just run the rads in paralle, but then again thats all theory and we dont really have any complete correct tests to show one way is better then the other. Anyway really nice mod it looks great.

Thanks,

The plastic T is for the fill line.
The final looks are that poor because I just wanted to complete the mod fast :)

Well I would have sold the one BI and bought the new coming out or the BI 2. Save money, same or probably better result, and have it look nicer. But nice job none the less :)

That has to be one mad mod.

Hangtight, Xtremes and Black Ice II's are coming to Sweden next week.

A nice mod,& very nice work but a bit over complex for the result. A simpler way to acheive the same result and save space at the same time: Dual BI Mod

Output 12-05-2001 01:27 PM

Chip, thats cool, and alot simpler. I was thinking of something like that when I started to do the mod, but there are some advantages of having space between the 2. One is that dust that gets stuck between the fins is easier to remove and if one rad starts to leak fixing it is simple!
But the negative is that it looks not as nice as your mod!
