TbredA Factory Unlock?
 

It appears from pictures that the new TbredA chips from AMD are all unlocked straight from the factory. Instead of the laser pits in the L1s it looks like they are connected in all the pictures I have seen (even the 1700+ pic on NewEgg after squinting hard enough). Does anyone know anyone that can confirm this from personal experience? If this is true, it would save a bunch of us the hassle of breaking out our defogger repair kits and super glue.

I believe they are unlocked, but one has to still close the bottom L3 bridge. I'll take a look at my 2200+ tonight and let you know.

Oh, I meant the lower speed ones they are releasing (the 1700/1800+ are currently on the market). I knew some of the 2200+s were.

Last time I checked the L3 was to get the multiplier down to the lower range so that the motherboard could support adjusting the multiplier.

On an Abit KD7 or AT7-Max2 (and possibly other boards) you won't need to touch anything because the board supports the full range of multipliers by default

Hi, i got mine inn the mail today and i put it inn my rig.

First thing i checked inn the BIOS was if i could change the mp but saddly no go.

I then pencil tricked the last L3 bridge and i got all the multipliers from 5 to 12,5 to pick from :)

The Motherboard i´m using now is a MSI KT3 Ultra2 or MS-6380E for the MSI name :)

Gonna see how far these things will go.... hmmmm, they are looking kinda hard to cool well whit the tiny core but it only means that i have to be accurat inn mounting of the WB :D

Thanks, bro. That answers the question. While the L1s are unlocked, the L3 is the only thing left to worry about. Sheesh, I wish someone would do a write up about this to help us folks.
