Having problems finding good webstorage

Thinking of starting to shoot some video diaries that I can upload to my website. The only problem is that I got 10mb of webspace and finding free webstorage that has "unlimited" space and allows files larger than 250kb is hard. Anyone that can help me? :)

I do not think you are going to find any....

the days of Xoom are long gone....

only way is for you to get yourself a nice little linux box, load it with slackware and apache, get a DYNDNS account and your set...

guess it kinda depends... what's "unlimited" space...

that's kindof a little too vague for most providers... that could be anywhere from 50mb to 50 terabytes. how much you need?

Well, I will use divx to keep the size down. But to my calcs I would need 3-5gb.....

lol... i got the space, but i don't think i have the bandwidth requirements for that one :)

one of these days when i get my faster line back (lol.. owe money).. that might be ok, but on the current line, that would be too slow i think for your needs :(

i will be setting up a new server soon tho... so lemme know, if you can put up with some slower speeds. how often will you be accessing it?

we're working on the faster connection thing, it just costs a lot of money ;P

buuut... maybe we can work something out? yes?

I don't care about the speed :) The main thing is getting my files up for public view. I don't believe my website will be popular site.... it's just a fun thing.

sounds like we might be able to work something out. would it matter if the server has a domain name, or just an ip you can link to from your site? also, does it need to be some fancy browser setup for file manipulation, or would just a shell account work for ya?

It doesn't matter if the server has an domain name. And all I need is a user/pass so I can use ftp to upload files.

Write a good article or review ( 5 of them to be exact) and you get 50mb of free space ( unlimited for the most part) on procoolings server :)

iroc409 11-18-2002 08:30 PM

well... that's definately a good way to go... but you'd give away 3-5 GB with that? lol.

i'd probably just set you up with a shell account, that would be easier, so you could manage your files with telnet and such.

the box i'd use is kinda my dev box, but i rarely restart it. no need :) runs freebsd 4.7-Release. probably throw another hdd in it tho. great idea, now that i just got hlds installed ;P. lemme know.

Joe 11-18-2002 08:41 PM

Umm.. I said unlimited... there are some friends who have webspace on the server that have pulled 50GB in a month in the past.

iroc409 11-18-2002 10:24 PM

that's pretty nice of you... but are you talking about 50gb in bandwidth or storage space? just curious. it's no big issue for me, and i wish i had those resources :) ahhh... someday :)

Administrator 11-18-2002 10:32 PM

50GB of bandwidth. I only gave him 200mb of space. he does some DV work for Auto racing and has hosted a few demo flicks on the server. its all good I havent come close to maxing my 400GB a month limit.

iroc409 11-19-2002 03:03 AM

lol... yeah... still, that _is_ a lot of bandwidth, but i think we're looking for more storage than 200... but anyways. what kinda reviews? just anything hardware related? not that i need the webspace...

Only text is accepted?

PlawsWorth 11-19-2002 07:48 AM

Joe 11-19-2002 08:41 AM
