a few Q's on making a good W/B

i ran some milling tests today and i got some wicked results

it was like cutting through butter with a HOT knife, around 3000RPM

now what size channel should i mill, i was thinking 3/8, but would 1/2 be better?

the raw copper is about 5.9mm wide and 2.9 thick, so would it be safer to mill it 3/8 or could go 1/2?

I'd go with the 3/8, but go with the 1/4 if you can, since the more channels you can fit the more surface area, the better...

if you have a 1/2" system, use 1/2", if you have a 3/8" system, use 3/8"

unless the channels will be rounded

(eg like this)"

in which case you could use a smaller pipe diameter (as it would create better velocity, but not have corners to slow it down)

thats my $0.02
:)

the thing is, if you can get more surface area by making more channels using a smaller bit, I think that would perform better than a block such as that.

not to mention the extra turbulence from the smaller channels would help too

my block is made of 1/4 channels, and performs darned well so..

It sure would perform better.

Using 1mm wide channels on mine (1/25")

The smaller the channels, the better the performance, up to a point...

well i won't be able to make them round (to much work on a manual mill) but it will not have 90* corners, they will be a rounded to the size of the bit

BTW anyone know a place to get good endmills (Do-All)

thx

look on ebay for endmills, great deals there

also look @ mscdirect.com

ahahah

i've milled most of my block, its a maze type block

the base is 7.8mm thick

will the channel wall thickness affect anything?
