What Heatercore/Radiator do you recommend?
Well, my BIX ruptured and water got all over my comp destroying my geforce 3 in the process, plus i think i broke the inlet to my mag drive 3, so I'm needing to replace all 3 items (video card has already been ordered). I'm thinking as far as pumps go I might get an eheim 1250, but I'm not sure which radiator/heatercore to get, any recommendations? I would like something that works better than the BIX, and I'm going to be getting at least a 300 gph pump, so high flow through the radiator isn't too important to me. Thanks!

About the only thing I can say is that bigger is better until space becomes a concern ;). Try getting something that can take two 120mm fans, if you have room for it. they work quite well....

I would agree. THeres so many different sized heatercores, just go with whatever oen fits your case & has connections where you need them.

The D~Tek HC is abit of a favourite is'nt it?, good sizing for a 120mm fan and shroud?, fit's front/bottom of most cases?...

Yeah I've been looking at the dtek core w/shroud as an alternative to the BIX, seems most people say its a better performer, cheaper too. Size isn't too much of an issue as I'm placing this in a Lian-Li Pc70 for the time being.

Golovko,
When you get your system back together, would you be interested in doing a performance comparison with a White Water block? I live in WL. I PM'ed you a while back, but never heard anything. |
Since87,
Sure that sounds great, hopefully after Christmas Break I'll have my system back up and running again. In case you need to contact me, my email address is pthomson@purdue.edu. Like I said earlier, my previous loop included a Danner Mag Drive 3, a BIX, and a Maze 3. I'm probably going to be replacing the pump, but not sure yet and the BIX will proably be replaced by the Dtek heatercore. The comparison testing sounds interesting though, and I won't be as busy when we get back from break (be done with finals...yesssss). |
Cool.
Good luck with finals. |
Just as long as you two are doing comparisons on the same system... ;)
I really like the Ford Festiva '98-current heater-cores. Thinner, lighter and slightly smaller than the DTek cores, but perform just as well due to the higher fin density. Basically sized about mid-way between a BIX and a DTek, and come with handy rails for mounting and bolting shrouds onto. |
