Acutually, the HDD cooler/duct looking thing is really a old CDRW that I gutted.

Originally, the door opened everytime the computer turned on, but the solenoid I was using was getting WAY hot, too hot to touch, so I removed it.

Here are a couple of pics of that:

I was going to put a pot in the old volume area to adjust fan speed on the radiator, but I am too lazy and besides, I have four other fans to slow down too...

Don't feel bad, the reason I noticed it was I have a LTE-5000 compaq! It runs at a speedy 85 MHz, a feat of it's time (which is way passed now ;) )

what's the waterflow like in there with a rio 180?

mkosem: Well, the flow is good enough to flow through a Danger Den Cooling cube, three waterblocks, and 10' of 3/8" tubing, and still manage 40-41 deg C CPU at idle (via MBM).

The CPU waterblock "in" water temp sensor gives me 32-33 deg C with a ambient temp of 24 deg C.

All with being cheap, and rather quiet to boot.

It has lasted 19 months so far, and eaten gobs of brown algi, (notice the discoloration in the smaller dia tubing leading to the CPU waterblock intake), all for less than $18 shipped.

on your cd rom duct i notice you have a acuator is that temprature controled or does it only open when you turn your comp on and close when you turn it off?
I want to do something similar to my own case a lian li pc 60
as you can see ive got it mostly stelthed already just need to move my fan inside goign to use a aluminum speaker grill stripped of its blace paint with a scotch bright ( they make awesome filters and they also quit the fan down a bit with out devoring your air flow.)

novaflare: It only opened when the system turned on, looking for a better actuator that doesnt get hot would be key in getting this to work, but so far no luck.

Bignuts, looking at the pictures of Your YY-cube it seems to be a fan in the front panel, on the motherboard side. How does that fan pull any air through the solid plastic front?
OK, I know that the fan pulls a lot of air from the bottom of the front beazel, but still: Does it really get any air into the case?
Where did You buy Your YY-0221?
I´m a bit interested in the same case (living in Sweden, though).

I just ordered one of these cases. It'll even fit on my desk!

And to think I was gonna try to graft two full towers together...

I found a place that sells them for $149 without a power supply.

It seems to me that if someone were to come up with a nice mod to this case that could be easily manufactured could make quite a chunk of change. :)

I picked my case up at Servercase.com, for those of you looking for one, they may still be offering the Procooling discount if you ask them about it and mention that you saw the case in the Kevins write up at Procooling (you DID read the article, didn't you?).

msv: believe it or not, sufficient air does get through to the fan from the front mounting point. When the pics were taken, I was not using the castors that came with the case, so I had the front bezel of the case hanging over the edge of the shelf as not to impede airflow. With the castors installed, its no problem.

On a different note, the original pics may be timing out at the site that initially had them, that was a site that was somehow related to the LAN party that took those pics, but in all reality, those pics are no big loss.

I hope you won't mind if I borrow your drive-bay ducting idea for my cube. :)

I'm gonna do mine (the ducting) a bit differently, but overall, it will be quite similar.

I gotta tell ya, that's a truly bitchin concept.
