OK I can be pretty stupid sometimes....

I have been having a hell of a time getting my TBredA stable in my system (Epox 8K3A). I assumed that this was due to high temsp (50-60C watercooled) and just figured it was a crappy o/cer. However, today I noticed that the ram speed was at 366 on boot (183fsb) even though I had the CPU fsb set to 145. Turns out that I had been running the system with ram set asynchronously high (166fsb base) and didnt even realize it. I set the ram to 133 rather than 166, and left the system happily cranking along at 2038MHz while I went back to work. I already knew the memory wasnt stable above 180 fsb. That speed is not even with voltage above 1.75; I am sure I can push the chip a good bit higher tonight.

So, moral of story is pay attention to the POST screen (or else know what the hell you are doing in the first place).

Been there, done that.

Beware on some of the newer boards: what is on the POST screen isn't always what the settings really are.

On my Epox 8RDA+, you never know what the settings REALLY are until you go into WCPUID and check. Sometimes the BIOS change will be assigned and recognized in BIOS and POST, but it won't actually use those settings ... instead it'll just piddle along at 9x100 with maximum RAM timings.
