AGP and PCI locks
I dont know if this has been discussed or not, but does anybody know for sure if there is any AMD solution out now that has an AGP and a PCI lock on them? I've been looking at Nforce2 boards and they seem to only have an AGP lock, and kt400's are still using dividers....

Asus NForce2 reported to have both agp and pci. No others have yet been verified to my knowledge

the asus distro in NZ swears that the a7n8x has both a pci and agp lock. apart from that I know of no other boards. that have it. It's perfectly possible that other nforce2 boards have locked speeds, as the chipset itself supports it perfectly ok

interesting read here nonetheless....

Look here:
http://forums.procooling.com/vbb/sho...5&pagenumber=5 All NForce2 mobo's can (and must, by design) lock both PCI and AGP. |
What the hell took them so long? The AMD/VIA combo used to be so much into the newest/best/fastest technology (although usually at the cost of stability :p)
My P4 board has it & it works great, especially since my stock ATI 8500dv overheats under normal operating conditions:rolleyes: With the FSB speeds usually seen on AMD systems, I just can't understand why this took so long to be implemented. |
Both EPoX and Abit have confirmed that their nFORCE 2 motherboards have PCI locked at 33MHz no matter what. AGP appears to be variable in the BIOS on both boards.

thanks for the responses so far
im leaning towards the asus board, but im waiting till about feb/mar for any big upgrades....good to hear that all nForce2's 'might' have this as a standard feature. |
