Well I got a lil suprise for you :) just watch over the next day.

Hmm just did some math.. seems it wont be as much of a suprise as I thought :)

Joe 12-22-2002 12:46 AM

Well its enough to make a dent ;)

2.8Mil a day.

Thats only 2% of the actual HP I could muster if I wanted to gamble a bit.

So :)

2%? Are those work comps? Where the rest of your team hiding? :D

Also the secret to AMDMB's sudden rise up isnt that hard to see, when you have people joining in with 100,000,000 worth of folds already its not hard to rocket up.

I cant comment on the source of the power. ANd the rest of the team? who knows. Not like we are in it to win (since there is no"win" wiht this kind of folding), its just something to make the CPU cycles do between games.

As I said earlier there is only one team we want to stay above... and we are currently 2 places over them :)

Luckily they are crunching for us aswell instead of just moving units. We were about #7 in daily output before they came so it isn't all the new guys. But it doesn't hurt. :) Last I heard Our big gun still has yet to arrive though....

If we were not in it to win then we wouldn't have the competitive edge to gain new members and keep building our crunchers. We know it is all for the project in the end and competition just helps the project out that much more.

I hear you about staying ahead of that certain team. If you guys ever start having trouble with that I will glady start a new account for this team to assist as much as I can. It isn't nearly as much power as you can put out but it wouldn't hurt. amdmb and procooling are my main 2 visited sites so I am up to splitting up my crunchin power if need be.

Where are you getting all that power Joe? On a regular basis I have my home server (700Mhz), home workstation (1500 Mhz) and work-workstation (850Mhz) all folding away, but since the holidays have started for me (great working at an educational institute) and everything at work is closed, I told a few of our servers to fold away too (add two Quad-700 machines, a Dual Ghz machine, and a single 1.4Ghz machine) and I'm still nowhere near your daily production. I don't wanna touch our web-servers since people could possibly still be using them over the holidays, but I still have a few more machines I could bring in - I should at least be breaking the 1-mil folds/day mark.

Cova 12-26-2002 12:46 AM

Dammit, the AMDMB guys passed us - time to see if I can't find a few more work computers to get folding for us.

And Joe - I mis-worded my last post. I'm not trying to get you to divulge the source of your power, just trying to get an idea of how much power it takes to get that many folds/day (eg X CPU's at Y Mhz). I don't want you to get in trouble with your ... whatever, I just wanna know what I'm up against so I know if I can compete (for the next week and a 1/2, then I have to stop using work computers when we re-open after the holidays).

Edit: If only I could get the academics to install the client. I don't think I have enough servers on the administrative-side of the business, but 10000 lab-computers on the academic side should do it, even if 1/2 of them are <500Mhz.

I would say around 20 machines of P4 class. :)
