My newly installed Iwaki MD-15R

This is the second smallest iwaki pump, after the 6 and 10 series. The 15 series is quite a bit smaller than the 20 series which I had, and sold... I could not find a good place in my case to mount it, and my case is pretty big. So, I went with the MD-15R, 300GPH and a 3.4 meter head, almost twice as much pressure than the Eheim 1250 it replaced. The MD-15 and the 1250 are VERY similar in size and wattage consumption, 1250 = 28W and the MD-15 = 30W. The beauty of the pump is it was able to install exactly where my 1250 was... Here are some pics:

No the rad and shrouds are from www.dtekcustoms.com

are you getting better temps?

nikhsub1 01-02-2003 04:34 PM

Very good question. With this A7N8X board, i think it reads the insocket via the Asus probe so I have not noticed much. I am hoping when MBM5 works with the NF2 chipset, i will get some on die readings. In anycase, I felt it a good improvement and am pretty sure my flowrate has risen. I would like to think temps dropped, but, who knows at this point.

Is the pump audible? Can you feel it vibrate?

With just the pump running, yes you can hear it slightly. It is louder than the Eheim, but it is not loud, just a slight hum. With the system on, you don't even know it's there.

Why are there two numbers for specs ?
Flow rate 16/19 l/min
Head 2.4/3.4 m
Is that the difference between 220V 50 Hz and 110V 60 Hz ?
Hope not ...

Unfortunately it is...

morphling1 01-02-2003 08:36 PM

Damn, that difference is realy huge, and in that case it's not that much better then Eheim 1250 for us 220V folks.
How much was it ? Anyway my two pums in series are about the same Head as your Iwaki and if I turn one of I also don't notice any significant change in temps (maybe 1°C), and I'm using internal diode for temp measurement, together with my new micro channel water block prototype. I'm getting 33°C folding load temps with axp 1977MHz 2,15V , 21°C water

its just my opinion....(note to self:keep your opinions to yourself)

wish you LUCK on your WC project...:D

Nope not at this time. I don't want anything in my system where condensation 'could' occur, and I've heard way too many horror stories with vapo's and prom's and pelts for that matter. My system runs 24/7, 365 no matter what so sub ambient cooling is just not an option, too much babysitting that goes along with it. I'll gladly sacrifice the extra 300 - 400 Mhz...

You should say "us 50 Hz Folks". Here we are at 220V 60HZ :D

Yeah.. Morph has been very silent lately...

morphling1 01-04-2003 05:13 PM

Where is that nicozeg ? So you got the best of both world :D
No pictures of my block yet :D
I just made two more version with the same channell dimension in different base thickeness, I just got tbred A for a weekend, and I'll try to optimize for this smaller core, plus I made changes to position of the inlet and all chanells, because I just measured and saw that amd core is 2.5mm off center in one direction if you look at four mounting holes.
And yeah I've been very bussy perfecting this design, so I've been absent from most forums except local in slovenia.
I can only say I beat my previous best block by more than 5°C or to put in MHz more then 60 MHz, and I'm still improving.
Btw my microchannells are 0.6mm, that's all I can say for now :D

Considering the last few creations, I'm very anxious how it's gonna look..;)

Don't let us cook too long...

morphling1 01-05-2003 06:19 PM

3 more versions I still need to look at, before I finalize my design.
Sneak a pik on my avatar ;)
