Honestly, you gotta love a $50 2 ghz CPU :-)
I'm running my 8K5a2+ at 10x200 right now with a mere 1.725V on my new $50 TBREDB from Newegg.
AXDA1700DUT3C JIUCB 0250MPMW Gotta love the 512mb PC3200 cas2 RAM from Corsair too. Hehe this was a nice jump from my XP1600 before :) :). The funny thing is that I haven't even tried to push this chip at all. So sure it isn't as good as the "A" stepping chips, for $50, this was an awesome deal. -Kev |
Honestly, I hope that I get the same chip you do. Just finished ordering mine :)
|
You should... even if they ran out of stock of mine and ordered more, I'm sure you would at least get a "J" stepping TbredB. There's little chance of you getting a TbredA. Good luck! And let me know how it goes.
I've definitely realized my motivation behind overclockign and getting excited about stuff now. I remember how excited I was when my first celeron 300A hit 504 mhz... It wasn't so much because of the speed. It was because I only paid Celeron 300 price and got faster than P2 performance. This new $50 Tbred is making me the most excited about an overclock since that Celeron. $50 for 2 ghz just seems like SUCH a great deal :). Not to mention i'm very happy that all my componenents are getting along well at 200 mhz FSB... (w/ memory timings maxed out and only 2.7 VDDR  ). Good luck! UPdate us! |
I will as soon as I get a chance to test it out.
BTW does it come factory unlocked or do I have to do the honors? |
Factory unlocked 12.5x and below; you need to cut a bridge and then it adds 8x to whatever multiplier you set if you want more than 12.5x.

YES!!!!!! THAT alone is worth the extra $50 to me :D
Now I cant wait to test out that bad boy!!! |
$50??? Looks to me like they are $46.99 shipped! :p
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...103-351&DEPA=1 I am ordering one when I get home! |
Hehe damn! They dropped the price $3 and I missed out! Honestly, this is so nice being at 2 ghz... totally stable, knowing mentally that it only took a small amount of voltage to get there. Add to the fact that my system is silent inside of the Chilli pro cae with a 200 mhz FSB.... mmmm... PC life is good :)

Wow, they even have some "refurb"ed ones for $35. Bet people got em without checking to see if their BIOS had support for TbredBs, then RMAed em.

Just got my Chip. :) It is a A version. :(
AXDA1700DLT3C AIUGA 0247MPM It is unlocked and I wil drop it in tonight when I get home and see if I can get it to work with 12.5X multi (max the board supports with manual jumpers 8K7A+) and whatever FSB I can acheive. |
Lame, bro, though that "A" chip should still be able to push 2ghz if you cool it right.

Now at 1807mhz 12.5Xmulti 145FSB 1.75Vcore and stable with DF load. :)

Update:
I finally got a chance to install that JIUHB and currently have it running 2250@180FSB, 1.85V. Temps were at 37C running Folding. I am pegged on the multiplier until I unlock the higher multiplyers and my board refuses to post over 180FSB. I figure that a NB Vmod is in order and some newer RAM before I can get any higher. Must say though, I am very happy with the performance. Gained 30FPS@1600x1200x32 in UT2K3. Unfortunately, after my latest purchase of a Yamaha 450W 5.1 Home Theater Sound System for my system, I am broke. Now I have to wait until I get a new job and play off some more credit cards before I can get the new RAM and shoot for 200+FSB. |
Saw your profile... that motherboard won't post above 180? That sucks, dude. I'm on a semi-old 8K5A2+ (KT333) and it'll hit 200+ FSB quite nicely, even with low voltage...

i wanna oc my 2000+, but i got a crappy board for ocing. it's a biostar... i think m7vkb. i think i'm going to get like a 2700 333 or something and retire this to *nix. any good motherboard suggestions out there with raid?
hey, but i got the board brand new from my dad for free, so i can't bitch :) |
Kevin,
Actaully, I am pretty sure that it is my RAM that is holding me back. Its a single 512MB Corsair PC3000 C2 unit. Yea it should hit at least 183FSB however I keep monitoring my voltages and some of them are not "up-to-par." For example, I set the BIOS VDIMM to 2.9V and the system claims that I am only running @ 2.82V. What I need to do is find a client that needs a really fast MB and sell him my old RAM and purchase (2) 256MB Corsair PC3500 C2 pieces and do a slight Vmod to the chipset and maybe even the VDIMM. I know this chip still has headroom and my board is not maxed out right now. It just needs a little "encouragement" :D Still I cant complain with a 1700+ running at 2250 (PR 3446 according to Sandra :) ) |
Yah that RAM may be holding you back. I have a 512mb stick of the PC3200C2 stuff from Corsair. I wish I had the newer PC3500 module, but I'm still quite happy that this RAM can hit 200 mhz FSB nicely.
