mobo holes distances
 

Does anyone know the exact distances between the 4 holes on socket A mobos? I need em to drill the holes on my wb's base plate and its pretty messy to uninstall my Alpha 8045 to measure :(

I would need distances between the centers of the holes, of course ;)

Just to make sure, the distances seem to be quoted from the edge of the holes, not from the centers. Means I now need to know the hole diameter :rolleyes:

io flavius, i hope i wasn't too blunt. just that i answered that q already 3 times where i found that same drawing with that same search button.

btw, if u wonder if that info is correct, it is, my WB's are made by that drawing. it shows them distances diameter to diameter, but they are center to center ofcourse.

the custom watercooling scene in belgium is quite small though. i think u can count diY WB makers on one hand.

About the work Im doing now, theres a thread I started here.
I looks ugly but I want it to be effective not pretty. And all I used was a saw, and pliers + hammer to fold the top.

i was wondering how u were going to seal it and make the bottom flat. but maybe i was to quick looking ;)

Great drawing, too bad the machine shop I will be working in is based on inches. :( Guess I'll have to do some converting. :(

So it is offset by 3mm! Jeeesh. I could of done better. So that means the center of my base is off by 3mm atleast. Wonder if I See a difference with the offset included in my base?

doh. one inch = 25.4mm ... remember that one, it's an exact value!
Also, nobody has specified the exact diameter of these holes. The alpha pal heatsink appears to be using #6 ANSI mounting screws. Can anybody confirm this or specify an exact hole diameter :)

I got an old Shuttle AK31 that measures 0.138" on the mounting holes...and thats exactly the measurement for a ANSI 6-32 thread is.
Dont know if this helps at all......All my other MB's have the screws epoxied in for mounting, so I cant measure em' for ya.

#6 will fit all mobo holes. the original hole size used to be 0.210 inch, but most mobo manufacturers have reduced it to 0.150 inch.

In the USA, use 6-32 or 6-24 (?) machine screws. Nylon is just fine.

does anybody have a drawing of the P4 retention mechanism?

Lol, BigBen, you have that Asus Nforce2 board I was talking about, the Asus A7N8X deluxe...
If you ever get a chance, could you measure the diameter of those mounting holes (I think they should be in the neighbourhood of .14 inches! :))
