I made my water change color with H2O2!!!

So I decided to check my filter I have jerry-rigged in front of my radiator. To get to it it requires taking off a bunch of the front plastic bezel...which in turn requires the side panel to come off...I see white tubes...I didn't have those awhile ago.

Mind you this setup has been running for about 2 months clean as a whistle.

First picture is the tubes before I cleaned them...just squeezing them cleaned them...so in turn I decided to flush the system.

And now for the color change...took a needle and injected some H2O2 and blamo...instant color change...and a nice foaming reaction to the chemcials and setup.

In the end I made a mess...had a gas explosion(one of the tubes while flushing popped off because of the reaction of H2O2...

And now the picture...its done and back together and bleeding as I type.

what were all the fluids you were running in your loop prior to adding the peroxide?

golovko 02-04-2003 09:07 PM

btw, what concentration was the h202? just the stuff you buy at the store or something stronger?

mfpmax 02-04-2003 10:16 PM

Distilled and a little bit of Watter Wetter type stuff...but no color.

Just plain old store bought stuff.

It was neat too...

System is back in action all bleed. But the reaction was neat-o...except when it started foaming out of the little res.

Which reminds me...need to get another jug of water:eek:

Speaking of peroxide, that's one thing I never thought of as an additive. I wonder if anyone has looked into it, Brian specifically. His article on cooling additives is great!

Hey Brian, you ever looked at peroxide as an additive???

From the past, I believe its pointless in the long run because it...changes...since exposure to light increases its break down.

But I was using it only for cleaning purposes like Joe did back in the day with Double Header 2 :)

Yeah, did a little looking, it isn't really very stable. Not a good thing. It also reacts with copper, NOT a good thing.

I can tell you that it will react with Stainless Steel, if it applies here. Not good. Hydrogen Peroxide may be good for flushing, but that's it.
