Peripherals
Hi.. Has anyone tried to deminish the number of poweradapters needed to all the printers 'n stuff?? They all use 12v.. ( kind of..) I'm seriously thinking of using an old 135w ps to supply my printers with juice?? Has it been done?? If so.. how?

Not recommended, but possible.
Some of these peripherals use low AC voltages, and some others use DC voltages. |
the only thing(s) I've ever had that used a 12V adapters are speakers/subs. and an external drive. My printers and scanners have all been 30V dc. That reminds me, my printer died.
Don't forget to look at the amp rating of the wall worts/bricks etc. if you do it. eh, I just looked at the one for my dead printer. 0.35A on the AC and 830mA DC30V. It also says 'for indoor/outdoor use ONLY' Though, something similar would be a nice thing. One plug to the AC with multiple outputs. each output would have an on off and separate voltage switch, i.e. 3.5, 6, 9, 12, 30 volts and a 3.5 plug. Rackmountable brackets so it's the same size as AV Equip. Hell why not make it infared power on off too. Someone got a wiring diagram? I could acually use somehing like that. |
