Reservoir
 

Where can i get a small cheap reservoir? i want it to be either a tube or something small. I would make one but i can't find a good container or a nice tube to make it out of because i want it clear.

when i try to add the dangerden Res to my cart it gives me the following error i e-mailed there webmaster a little bit ago. Also the drive bay reservoir won't work because my cooling stuff is exterior heh

DD finally fixed their lil guy I see.

It is because you have your firewall on, I had this problem before when it was fixed by temporarily disabling the firewall and restart browser.

Well since they are selling a product, I do not think they wil mind. It is not as if I was making my own site, and using their images as my own.

I do not really know what you are talking about? People do that all the time? Would you rather my download the pic to my webserver and host it there? What if they change the product tomorrow and the pic is totally wrong.

Acutally some forums remove images that are remote linked.

A lot of major websites change images that are remote linked.

All the little "pennies" of bandwidth add up.

Just a link would suffice i'm sure.

yea thats cool, but its external, i like the bayres cus its small and fits in the case and is unasuming, yet draws attention. those tube-style reservors are nice, but im not a big fan of external cooling systems or systems with any external parts.

Check the rod and tube area, would be easy to mod a res of any size with those 1/4" thick walled tubes. And you can make them any size you want the DIY way.

I have a bayres.
My only issue with it is that the threaded holes don't line up with the attachment system in my current case - might be that I am the one off-standard, though.
The nice part about it (or any other res you can mount high in your system) is that is does a good job trapping air bubbles.
I had one of those innovatek push-fit-on-eheim reservoirs, but the capacity was so small that my pump was causing a "whirlpool" - and air bubbles were getting sucked in. Also, with my pump at the bottom of the system (to reduce required suction head to zero or thereabouts) this reservoir has a fitting that does not point upward, requiring a right angle turn (I'd put a sweep in if I had room). The reservoir is clearly designed to go with the compete innovatek "solution" - which is low-flow. I am water cooling for noise reduction so I'm using the smallest eheim I could get (1046) combined with 3/8" tubing - so I'm not exactly "high-flow".
Now innovatek has a similar reservoir, but with upward-pointing fitting and apparently larger (hard to tell from pictures) interior volume. I think I might buy one as it solves my "right turn" problem.

I forgot to ask - what do you mean by "cheap"?
If I was looking for a cheap reservoir I'd go to usplastics.com. get a nalgene square (or rectangular, depending on where I was trying to fit it) bottle (note - not round - you want flat sides to drill) and some of the nylon barbed hose fittings that not only are threaded but come with a nut.
I'd then just drill a couple of holes the right size, push the fittings through (gooped with something - I'd use teflon paste, but other stuff would work), put the nuts on the back side and tighten things down a bit. Avoid the right-angle fittings if you can.
Should be under $10, not counting the drill bit and whatever goop you use.
You could also just buy something used. Given that the bayres, innovatek push-on, and danger den reservoirs are under $30 new, it's probably not worth it to someone to try selling one for, say, $15 - but you might post a "WTB" and bring a couple "out of the woodwork"

The smallest one is 4oz - dimensions aren't listed, but a half-cup bottle can't be that big - and $1.28 is pretty hard to beat
I can't post a working link to the hose barbs (forum software here is doing something funky to the link). Go to USPlastic and search for "Nylon Fittings With Lock Nuts" - note the half inch ones are $0.60 - so we're talking about $2.48 total in materials (plus shipping - which is why I was guessing $10).
Again, the nice thing about square/rectangular bottles is that they have straight sides so it's a lot easier to get a bulkhead fitting (which is what the above nylon fittings essentially are) to seal properly.
Also - they're economical on space taken up (the same reason gin bottles are square, BTW).

You're right, the one I'd make form that sites materials isn't real low cost. I forgot that part of his request.

But round stock while a bit harder to work with, isn't all that much of a issue. Or cut a semicircle out of flat stock and weld it on the side of the tube for that matter, would take a couple layers though.

While it is more expensive, it's also more sharp looking as well.

Nah, i like a good challenge ;). Besides, i had a couple of those containers lying around, so... they got upgrated to reservoirs. I also had a few other ones , with flat walls, but i liked this better. It has a seal ring on top, and easy access.
