Influence of Intel Pentium 4 Core Temperature on CPU Performance

very nice testing

The choice of a PC game for the temperature monitoring portion of the testing is a bit strange; I have also noticed video card GPUs drastically decrease in performance when overheating. The second testing with Rightmark seemed to suggest that this wasn't solely responsible for FPS dips. however.

Otherwise that was a really informative article and quite well done. This is probably where Bill tries to talk me into buying an incubator :)

nothing at your facility ?
I think you need a grant !

interesting upper limit characterization
do you have 'access' to that 72°C temp source ?
(yea, you don't have a P4 - now you need ANOTHER grant, jeez)

thank you xbit for doing this, now we're not going to have people asking if 55C is too hot for their P4 and if they're getting reduced performance

Personally, I enjoyed finding out exactly how the clock rate was reduced: it's a simple (HF) NAND gate... now to adapt it for AMD:D
