WONDERFUL!! great work. If more people would get out and do this, they would have alot better time on the forums. I say this, though I know I could never have done anything remotely as nice.
When you place it in your case, the copper tubing wont be forgiving if something bumps it or you need to move the case. Could you eliminate the lengh of the copper and place the barbs closer to the block? This may help eliminate any free case water cleenings. |
i kinda do understand what you are saying....ill try and do that on my next block. not sure why i put it soo far out...
|
hmmm my cathar clone will cost about $25.30;
about $12.50 US :D |
yeah, and what? a $400 mill?

It works................ It looks substancially better than than hideous monster youve got..... Much more MB-friendly than yours.... and it undoubtly performs much better....... I think you need to get to work on that revised one:p |
Liquid, you need to learn to be gracious and friendly. He has something to show, you do not. Everyone has to get their start somewhere.
Good work on your block hydrogen18. I have to second the notion that those barb tubes need to be chopped off completely and the barbs need to be put as close to the top as possible. -Zoson |

The only way you would want to keep those tubes is if you could mount them somewhat solidly to the case frame to prevent any movement, but that also brings some difficulty into aligning it with the socket. |
Hmm. Any pic´s of it mounted?
It puzzles me that the piece that looks like the baseplate has the tubing sticking out of it. I guess I´m regarding it up side down. How much of the processor is covered by the cup? Just the core? Any temps so far? Getting addicted? Planning the next WB? ;) Regards Mikael S. |

And believe me, I was being friendly. I have plenty to show, but I choose not to because I like keeping my blocks one of a kind, and dont want 500+ other people trying to copy it. Im far past the soldered copper end caps, and tubing projects point in my hobby of watercooling. Point is, everyone has opinions. And if he posts his "blocks"in a public forum, he should expect someone to disagree on his "design approach" And considering Im already thought of as being "unkind",Ill say this......................If I made something that looked like that, I wouldnt even post it anywhere for anyone other than myself to see.But then, thats just the way I see it...And some may disagree with my thoughts...... Thats what's so great about forums, honest opinions. I could have lied to him, and told him that it looked great and Id really like to know of his temps with that thing, but thats not my style. He asked what I thought and I told him. :) |
All good. I see your point, and value your opinion. But like we don't use the word "hideous" with our girlfriends clothing choice, it may not be the most tactfull language to embelish upon our friends. :) just an idea.
|
Looks good :)
But i agree with everbody else inn saying, shorten down the barbs, i think it would make your life a bit more easy.... And i would really like to see that mounted :D Keep up the good work... -P- |
I'm just curious as to why you didn't make it the other way 'round? I mean having a flat (full size) base plate would have been easier, would it not have? Or was this the originality effect...in which case I'll shut my moaning up and go for Nice :)
|
If the mobo is in a case that will probably not work to well, unless the side cover is removed. :D Also why barbs??? Why not just hack the copper pipe off about 1.5" up from the top of the block and use the copper pipe as the barb? Couple hose clamps should work just fine to seal it up.
Also what did you use for the base? Looks like round copper pipe, but what is the base, or how is it installed on the pipe, or...???. In other words show a bottom pic! :D |
Also, next time it might be easier to put the 4 mobo install holes in before soldering it up. Might make it a lot easier to drill them out.

http://hydrogen18.pasc.ath.cx/stuff/...ck1-bottom.jpg ive shorten the barbs, and fixed a leak which developed. NEED dremel wire brush for polishing.... |
Nice work buddy. And all this stuff u got from a hardware store?
|
Liquid: you have to judge it for what it is. If it seems amateurish to you, then go ahead and comment on it, for it's value as an amateur block.
Personally, I can't say anything, because I can't tell anything about the insides. If it's just a plain cap, then I don't have anything to say either: it was just a construction exercise, and a preliminary attempt for something better to come later. If I had the time and the tools, I would have probably built 20 variations of Radius by now... |
i actually installed it today. Not permanently, Im back to the intel stock cooler. im 100% sure the temp probe is totally b0rked as it reads the same thing all the time 42c-44c(no matter what cooler or load condition). I need to get some thing rigged up that is better, but yeah it works, unfortunately, something came loose in the block and stopped flow. Anyhow it was fun, and the cooler proved its worth.

thats really all you could hope for. You now have a solid base and reference guide for further testing. Built on hands on understanding you can really move forward to practical application. You are one of a few percent of people in this forum who actually do more than just shop for what others tell them is the best.. GJ!
