TEC Power?

hey guys

a while back I tried installing a 72W pelt on my PIII800@1Ghz but it wasnt enought and some dude told me i needed a pelt with at least 2x the cpu heat output

well now thinking on trying a peltier again on my AthlonXP2000 which is pumping out 64W of heat according to sandra and i was wondering what power should a peltier have to cool the athlon

note: 64W at default clock; i am gonna overclock this baby once i have the pelt so final power will be much higher

169W will probably be enough. I have played around with that pelt (got it at www.cooltechnica.com ) and have been pretty pleased with it. I also have a 226W though and it is just fine :) How are you planning to power it?

I agree with pH... :)

A TEC should be sized so that its Qmax is approx 2 to 3 times the expected heat output of the CPU. I would go with a 226 watt Pelt and run it on a lower voltage. Good luck,
