DangerDen kit review
DangerDen kit review by Nexus Hardware.
Note the addition of a baffle in the DD res. (there is also an unusual/exceptional Hydor 20 pump leak). Results? 5 deg C lower than an SLK-800 (using the ole' mobo test...), but it shows that under high heatloads, the DD kit fares much better than the HSF (6 to 10 deg C). |
Nice. It's quite unusual that a 'high-end' (or 'hardcore' if you prefer) kit gets reviewed. Pleasing.

"This is one of the reasons you must run the setup outside the case for at least 24 hours. A single drop of water can be fatal!"
hehehe.. a little hype on that statement, but a very well written article. Since I am newer to the hobby, I wonder what the the other block and pictures of it can be found so I can see what they were comparing it to. I personally have spilled ALOT of water on my agp card and ide cables not to mention the top of the block and cpu. I know its commonly claimed to run water leak tests for 24 hour. Isnt that overkill? If it doesnt leak for 20 minutes, im good to go! |

Dont get me started on what happened to my $500 LSI RAID adapter........  |
overall i thought the review was pretty good, also liked the photo documentation that went with it, very clear. i'm just wondering about the incident w/ the hydor pump. would you guys support DD's statement about not knowing of any incidents like that previously, or have there been other bad experiences w/ that particular pump brand. i'm just curious b/c everyone seems to be praising eheims so much. basically, if the hydor (or another brand for that matter) is a resonable alternative to the eheim (at half the price), i'd like to hear about it. or is this just a matter of getting what you pay for? i'm pondering building my own WC rig after i build the computer fund back up again. any past experience or pointers to decent pump reviews would be appreciated. thnx.
hope that wasn't too far off topic there. :-)> |
I've had a Hydor L30 for about 2 years. Works fine. No leak. Same fitting system as Eheim. Same flow characteristics. Maybe a bit noisier.
